  • Although this issue might be more severe for Lemmy, I think it still occurs on Reddit, but it ends up working itself out. For instance, there’s also a “r/tech” and (at some point) there was a “r/technologynews” subreddit, which you could view as redundant and possibly confusing to new users. But r/tech seems to have focused on longer-form more in-depth discussion while r/technology is certainly the larger and more general of the two, so most users will probably just sub to the larger one and maybe others will decide they like the vibe of r/tech more. In the long term, I’m sure a similar thing will happen to communities with the same, or close to the same, name.

  • Despite the traversal / shader compilation stutters, I’ve been really enjoying Dead Space! The ambience and graphics are top notch and the seamlessness of the world is really nice for exploration and backtracking. It would be great if they improved performance over all, but it seems like it’s mostly been abandoned and the last patch was quite a while ago…

  • Apollo is similar! iirc the only “functional” feature locked beyond a paywall is submitting posts (which you could argue is a pretty big feature to lock away). But I think the majority of users rarely submit posts, and the “pro” tier was just a one-time $5 payment. I found Apollo very intuitive to use and very minimalistic; there was very little fluff to distract from posts and comments.
