I love Torx and Hex as much as the next guy but I think you’re’ll being too harsh on the good old Slotted.

I’ve worked on machines with screws that had been exposed to oil, grime and dirt for decades, with screws so caked in rust that you would never be able to even put an allen key in there ever again.

But the humble Slot isn’t picky, it will turn even the oldest of screws (or sometimes break them but such is life).

And if nothing else helps then I’ll take out my dremel tool and turn any old screw into a slot screw
