The project closest to what you describe is Mapillary I guess.
It is owned by Meta so I will pass it.
That’s been my biggest gripe, so I don’t contribute to it. Realistically, would it even still exist if not for Meta? Probably not.
If an org like Mozilla took control, I would be adding thousands of KM of images to their dataset per year. Easily.
