    Doubt.

Yes, many internet nerds will finally switch to linux. Most normies will just throw millions of computers into the trash and buy win11 approved machines.

And we don’t actually need everyone to switch to Linux. Much like with Lemmy we need enough people to have thriving communities with Linux we need just enough people for companies to start properly supporting Linux.

I’m really more concerned about the massive e-waste. Linux communities are thriving

Yeah the faster Linux gets adopted, the faster we can stop having updates cause millions of tons of e-waste.

New hardware CVEs could still do that though.

yeah i just watched a girl in our class group chat trying to run a windows installer on a mac

things like these remind me why linux won’t become popular

well if people stick to the proper linux way of doing things (official software repos) then that’s actually closer to what they are used to doing (apple app store) than just randomly downloading installers off the internet

linux should be a relatively easy switch for most people.

I will have to disaggree on that, i can see your point but that is only if they had someone to manage thier system until they get the hang of it, otherwise they will jump back to what they were comfortable using.

Be it mac, windows or a phone
