I honestly don’t get this point of view.

Then we have to assume the government are happy for the real killer to go free. Then what happens when he kills another CEO and says to you got the wrong man.

Why would a killer carry a ghost gun across state lines? It’s designed to be thrown away. The killer obviously had a plan.

The answer is the killer didn’t. The killer followed the plan and threw away the ghost gun. The police found it and planted it on Luigi.

But… why him? They could have framed literally any convicted felon, and have a much easier time with the jury. Why would they choose an attractive cis white male engineer?

Because his social media profile matched the criteria they gave to the AI system for a white, young, male, person with chronic health issues who’s engaged with extremist political content in the past in the desired location.

It’s all about the data these days. They have systems on systems to monitor us all. Luigi read the Unabomber manifesto for a laugh and left a review. The algorithm identified him as a political extremist and fed his name to the pigs.

Reminds me of some of the scenes and themes in the city of Nephilopolis in Dresden Codak.

(I wonder if Luigi has read that webcomic)

Ok, didn’t realise the shooter’s race and gender were apparent from footage. They could have framed someone with a marginalized identity otherwise.

If he was framed by an algorithm, though, it was a pretty shitty algorithm. Luigi’s political views were all over the place, and I don’t remember any indications of him even supporting or advocating violence. Meanwhile there are still plenty of actual radical leftists on the internet. Was he really the most convincing scapegoat they could find? Pretty sure I could do better by manually scrolling Twitter.

Call a copycat for the first part, call a liar (and any proof fake) for the second. Helps that the US federal government rejects the concept of “fact” anyway.

It could lead to some uproar, but maybe that’s a risk they’re willing to take, or simply ignore.

the real killer would get blackbagged and extrajudicially executed with no expense spared and no hope of a trial
