and no one irl even has the decency to agree with me because it’s so fucking drilled into the culture that these fucking BuNsInNesSes have a Right to do this because it’s a bSUsniEss. like oh yeah they have an office building so they definitely get to analyze my piss because they say they want to. sick fucking freaks.

preaching to the choir a bit on lemmy (or i would hope so at least) but still

Don’t be on drugs at work. That’s common decency. If you are on drugs at work you should be fired.

The problem is the tests for stuff like weed will flag you even if you smoked once in the last month.
You’d be far from impaired by then but still get sacked.

That is certainly a problem. I’m not against drug use, just being impaired during job duties. It’s one reason truck drivers still can’t smoke even in legal states. The other reason is they’re under federal rules where weed is still schedule 1.

Wouldn’t that depend on what you do? Like what if you’re a painter?

A house painter still needs to be functional to do their job. You don’t want an intoxicated house painters spilling paint, doing a bad job or falling off ladders. If you’re talking about an artistic painter, I don’t think many of those painters count that as a real job or would be counted as a real job.
