Hey all! I’ve really wanted to make some beginner video guides for people for a long time and here is my first attempt. I’m no YouTuber, but would love feedback to get them up to at least a helpful enough standard and worthwhile to watch :)
Hey man, I didn’t watch the whole video but my main critique would be that there’s not much editing involved it’s mostly just gameplay with some voiceover.
At one point I think you were saying something about memory escapes you about a particular item description. A good first attempt, a bit more of a script and a guided walk through might be better? Idk
Thanks for the comment!! Appreciate you watching even a bit of it. My capacity for editing is a bit limited, however, I definitely agree that I should pick the main things that I want to talk about beforehand so that there is a bit more structure, instead of me trying to remember things in the moment (could not for the life of me remember the Fetid Rat…). Appreciate that advice!
Having watched a bit, I’d recommend much like the other guy said at least a bit of editing like an arrow pointing at the thing you’re talking about whenever you need to (grass above rat that the rat trampled) instead of trying to explain for unnecessarily long.
And ideally consistently do the things you show people as tricks, i.e. throwing your ration to open a door, carefully dancing through grass.
Also an early tip would be to just have a notes app open and write down which potions/scrolls you found where (floor, room type) which makes for much easier identification, as you don’t need to rely on memory. You can also note not-yet-solved puzzle rooms etc.
Thanks for your thoughts! I’ll see what I’m able to do re: editing, but I agree with would be ideal to highlight the tiles I’m talking about to cut down my explanations - makes a lot of sense.
Also love the idea of a notes app to track things, that’s a great suggestion!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch even a bit and type a reply!
Can you post a plain link? The embedded player just doesn’t want to work for me apparently
