Looked like a weird website and turns out it is pretty sketchy

There’s another article about how he still treats women poorly, based on comments earlier this week. And it’s even pro-Ayotollah, but still clear how bad he is
This stuff is all a show. He’s a smart man who understands that by slowly doling out small changes he can appear progressive on the broader world stage, which shields his government from international criticism.
Started in 2015, the account appears to have gained followers during the height of the pandemic as one that posted daily coronavirus case numbers. It’s since morphed into an account that posts about daily news events with no links to published stories or citations.
Thanks for the links. I’ll ignore this until it’s reported somewhere reputable.
It’s translating a statement from Khamenei. Not the hardest thing in the world.
Good, then it should be done by a legitimate source, not a spam one that is known for not citing sources.

Something reputable? Something that doesn’t fixate on making dictators look good without covering the full story of his comments?

So you’re a fan of right wing shills? Not sure what you’re trying to say

You consider a source illegitimate because Twitter doesn’t like it?
Hmm…
No, because they’re publishing a story that nobody else is that’s weirdly pro-Ayatollah
In your article:
Ayatollah Khamenei also mentioned the issue of housework, saying, “The perception that housework is a woman’s duty is absolutely incorrect and the tasks within a family should be undertaken with a mutual understanding from both sides.”
What is your complaint?
Hopefully as the economic conditions improve so will the social conditions.
All the best to Iran and its people.
of course there’s a canadian idiot here talking about the title as if your country’s leader isn’t literally called a prime minister.

In domestic duties only? Well, change is slow, I guess…😅😅😅😅😅
honestly for a nation like iran thats huge, it would break so much sexist barriers
Supreme Leader
Who gives these people such egocentric titles? 😄

That title is actually on Wikipedia too, so it’s seems like an established translation. I think this is where Snoke (in Force Awakens) got his title.
From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest. But for us, it’s different. Consider again that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every “superstar,” every “supreme leader,” every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we’ve ever known.

I wonder what will happen if he meets the North Korean President. You clearly can’t have two Supreme Leaders. Maybe it’ll go like that scene in Great Dictator where Chaplin meets Mussolini.

Clearly, Supreme Leader is not just a translation choice when the BBC mentions it quite specifically numerous times in this article.

This is such a obviously intentional misinterpretation, but for the sake of clarity:
No, they’re arguing that he is referred to by a Persian term that directly translates to “supreme leader”
No doubt that he’s called that. I think the term is ridiculous and wonder why they give these people such silly titles.
But it goes beyond being a “translation choice”.

I don’t know what you’re going on about. “Supreme Leader” is such an ego-inflated, better-than-thou title.
It’s hilarious and silly to put on a leader. English, non-English, Iran or the UK. It doesn’t matter! LOL
Does the supreme leader want a cookie for figuring out minimum human decency? Who exactly listens to him about something so trivial and frankly patronizing? Is he going to declare the sky blue next?
