Because nothing drives engagement like an argument, lol. I’m team fruit bat, because of how helpful it is for CC completion. But yes, mushrooms make more… but I am curious if kegs/jars might help with the fruit bat profit margins?
My thought was always that I can get fruits from other sources fairly easily, but mushrooms? Easier to just have the cave produce them
For me it’s mushrooms. Kegs and jars take time… maybe end game fruits with kegs/jars are more profitable but earlier that steady bit of fast cash really does help. And it’s just easier to make money later on… And about the CC, I’m never really in a rush to do things the fastest way so lat it take longer ig Iirc there isn’t a way to change Ur choice right?

In general, no, you can’t change your choice. I know there’s a way to edit a save file on PC to change it, but there’s not currently a way in game to change it.

Mushrooms all the way, imo. you can get fruit on the farm directly through trees but you’ll have to forage for shrooms.
I usually choose fruit bats because I never seem to have enough money for fruit trees the first year and a half.
I’m team mushrooms, but that’s also because I’m all about life elixirs.
That’s exactly my reason too! I’ll get fruit from trees but I need the steady supply of elixirs.
There are pros and cons to each.
Mushrooms you get daily, but you only get 6 at a time, and they are usually of 6 varieties. You have to harvest daily if you want to get the most out of it.
Fruit on the otherhand, they come up less consitantly, but you get more varieties, and you can let the cave accumulate, which means you don’t have to tend to it every day.
I think I prefer the fruit cave in the end, but once you get advanced enough in the game, both options become more or less irrelevant. I guess as a beginner, I would go with mushrooms, because you have to unlock the secret forest first otherwise to find them, or wait for fall for the common shrooms.
I’ve tried both, neither makes a big difference, so don’t stress and go with your gut!
I usually go with bats, for a few reasons:
- Batcave!
- Cheaper than fruit trees in early game
- Mushrooms must be collected daily for max value
- You get mushrooms from random mine levels (Public Access TV mod reveals which ones) and also on the island
Mushrooms are hands-down more profitable, however, they are getting a re-balance in the next update to produce every other day instead of every day, so fruit bats might not be so bad.
I’ve gone with mushrooms in every save except my most recent one, and I’ve found the fruit cave mostly disappointing.
The benefits are if you get lucky, it helps you complete community center bundles faster, and if you go with a certain foraging profession, you’ll get iridium quality fruit from the cave faster than the several years it takes for fruit trees.
That said, I’ve found it’s more likely to produce fruits that can be foraged rather than fruit tree fruits, if it produces fruit at all.
I’ve always been team fruitbat but I think next time I need to go mushroom.
I wish the wizard let you change it up… I get attached to a save and hate restarting, but I then miss out on experiences.
Mushrooms every time!!! I know fruits are good for bundles but usually I can get 3-4 of the items needed for the bundle and then only need to buy one fruit tree. I can make that money easily with mushrooms. For me, mushrooms can be hard to find so I prefer to have a secured steady flow.
Bats are useful in the short term to complete the community centre, but past that mushrooms are generally more reliable.
The difference is specially visible in the late game, as you can produce as much fruit as you want inside the greenhouse.
Mushrooms. I choose them cuz you can make a bit of money in the early stages or use them for energy but in the later stages I would have preferred a fruit cave because it’s one more room to decorate
Team fruit bats solely for the community center. I get that mushrooms are better in the long run but I feel like there’s so many more efficient ways to make money that it just doesn’t matter at that point.
