Thoughts ? Seems like a turn your brain off movie.

I fully believe Twister is a movie that can’t be replicated, because too much of what made that movie good seems like an accident/ coincidence of having the exact cast they did. It shouldn’t have been as good as it was.

This is going to be just another shitty storm movie. I’m not even giving it a chance.

There’s the glimmer of a good idea in there: the daughter of the original characters faces her fear of storms in the face of ever-more powerful tornadoes (due to climate change). It’s a good sequel hook, and topical.

But I largely agree with you. The first movie holds up very well and the current state of movie production is so flanderized that this falls into a very deeply worn rut carved by the first movie. I groaned at the “escalating tension” music and the Inception "BWAH"s over actors pretending to struggle in CGI wind, it’s all so rote and familiar. And how can you not laugh at “Oh no, there’s TWO TWISTERS!” (Cut to slow title reveal)

I fucking loved twister when I was a kid. I distinctly remember going home and playing with my trucks in the grout of the tiles like they were driving in the drainage ditch. Loved hat fuckin movie.

And this, weirdly, almost looks like a remake more than a sequel. So many incredible similar shots, scenes, characters, concepts. Whatever. Fuck it. I’m in.
