The contents of the Israeli Association of Rape Crisis Center’s paper alleging “systematic” Hamas rape derive largely from discredited second-hand testimonies and debunked media reports. Among its most heavily cited sources is a dubious NY Times article that triggered a staff revolt at the paper.

In this case, it might also be a good call because of the source

I’d prefer some other agency reported the story given Grayzone’s track record

Blegh every war is a crime. I don’t know if there has ever been a war that didn’t involve rape. Even the allies in WWII (“a just war”) were infamous for that, both in the European and Pacific theaters. So it’s not surprising now.

But yes, any Hamas who commit atrocities, may they burn in hell if there is such a place. Same as IDF and settlers who do so.

I don’t get the point of these arguments; people came across a border and opened fire on any person they saw! Just because they didn’t rape every single one of them as well does not make it any better.

In order to justify the Genocide you need to completely dehumanize Palestinians. That is the purpose of this propaganda. The same propaganda tactic has been used before.

This is incorrect. The Palestinian fighters refrained from attacking Israeli civilians when they were able to. In many cases they did not do any harm to the Israeli civilians they interacted with and we’re in fact courteous towards them. They targeted military and police instead. A currently unknown portion of the deaths of israeli civilians on 7/10 was from Israeli fire. Witnesses and available evidence indicate that Israeli infantry, tanks, and helicopters fired indiscriminately at civilians, militants, and homes with occupants. Israel refuses to investigate its forces’ acts on 7/10 and destroyed and buried evidence (bombed cars).

I feel like many people don’t understand the horrors of modern conflict in dense urban areas,

We know from WWII that bombing civilian centers kills a lot of innocent people. It’s not like anyone should be surprised that Israel’s relentless bombing campaign is murdering thousands.

or have a good understanding that many of Israel actions are actually legal and justified.

Legal how? By their own decision? They’ve committed war crimes and violated military norms. Roughly 1,000 Israelis were killed in a cowardly attack by Hamas, so Israel is “justified” in murdering over 20,000 Palestinians who had nothing to do with the attack?

But unfortunately a number of Israelis also don’t understand that just because civilians die in war it doesn’t mean you can go out of your way to make it happen, and regardless of the enemy you are facing if you can’t toe the line I hope you find yourself at the end of a public rope.

They’ve blocking aid. They’re geared up to move in and build more settlements on stolen Palestinian land. The Israeli public is divided, but there’s plenty of bloodthirsty soldiers sniping children and civilians foaming at the mouth to seize the land. There’s no one holding these people accountable. The IDF lies with every breath and shields their people from justice.

Israel is no better than Russia (and probably worse).

Considering the fact that Israel has killed more journalists, more healthcare workers, more aid workers, and more children during this conflict than Russia has in Ukraine I would say it is definitely worse. The invasion of Ukraine is wrong, but Gaza has become the world capital of war crimes.

Just compare the civilian deaths: UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has verified 30,457 civilian casualties since 24 February 2022, including 10,582 killed and 19,875 injured.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, thought the fact that they are not trustworthy is a different conversation than whether they are right on this one. They might be, it’s just that you shouldn’t take merely their word for it.

I think this is a good reminder that one should always check their sources tho

Or, y’know, instead of racing to post content from potentially questionable outlets, people could wait until it’s confirmed by more reputable journalists. Or even just stop visiting questionable sites like this in the first place.
