Asbestos is a sad story tbh. It’s an amazing engineering material, incredible in any high heat application, resilient, strong, and insulating. It’s actually great. Aside from that tiny, itsy bitsy little problem of it causing cancer in anyone that handles it…

Same with leaded gas: it is a wonderful fuel additive; very effective and engines ran so well as they covered the world with lead microparticles. And CFCs: a really great refrigerant but it just also loves reacting with stratospheric ozone! Oddly enough, both commercialized by the same dude https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Midgley_Jr.

The gas oven thing was so dumb because there was never even any mention of banning gas ovens and stoves. They just said that the fumes cause severe breathing issues and the ventilation for most gomes was drastically insufficient. Literally all that you have to do os install a proper fume hood. Most home just have a fam button on the microwave anove the range that blows air behind the cabinets

Sorry. There are such people as lefty extremists and thy are not moderates at heart. This is why we can’t have nice things.

Chicago is still trying to ban them. New York already has.

Justifying the deliberate misinterpretation of one specific EPA paper by linking to one city’s unrelated proposed policy… which also isn’t a ban

It would only mean restriction for new construction and large scale remodelling though. It literally says that in the article you posted.

How is it that ban on gas in all new construction isn’t a ban?

If it is you trying to buy a new house the government won’t let you have a gas stove, how is that not a ban?

You know what? Considering what we can scientifically prove about the impacts of asbestos exposure… if they’re inclined to dive into the shallow end of the gene pool, who are we to stop them?

Yeah, well guess what - during the four years it squatted in the White House, the orange cock holster lifted restrictions on the use of asbestos in construction.
