Never a good sign when a defense lawyer starts trying to rephrase the prosecution’s argument, and the judge has to step in to correct the defense lawyer.

Trump lawyer is currently trying to make the case that Trump had a First Amendment right to interfere with the election.

Yes, that’s exactly what he’s doing. It’s gotta be hard to be a Trump lawyer and try to defend this crap.

    Stickied because this is important.

The case that Trump lawyers keep referencing is US Vs. Alvarez which is worth reading up on.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Alvarez

Alvarez was elected to local public office and introduced himself in a hearing as a Marine of 25 years and winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Neither of which were true and ended up being prosecuted under the Stolen Valor Act of 2005.

That act was struck down by a 6-3 Supreme Court decision, but Alvarez remained imprisoned on fraud and other charges.

The key differences between his case and the Trump case is that he didn’t make the false statements to the government, he made them to the public, AND, they weren’t in service of a larger conspiracy.

They are postponing this case indefinitely due to the fact that the Judge’s gavel is made from Walnut as opposed to the traditional Rosewood.

What are the odds Trump goes full sovcit and starts signing things in red ink and complaining there’s gold fringe on the flag?

There is exactly zero chance he ever sees the inside of a jail cell even if he’s not re-elected as president. He’s white, rich, and too well connected.

I’m not sure your last sentence is entirely accurate. He’s white-ish (orange would be more accurate), rich-ish (highly overleveraged), and connected-ish (those that are not in prison are jumping ship).

Willing to concede the white/orange portion, but for a man who allegedly is worth billions he’s having trouble scraping together enough money for bond. Those connections wouldn’t even step up to post it for him or loan him the money to post.

FYI, after the Truth Social IPO fraud, Trump’s net worth is once again over $6B

Once again, Wall Street is doing its level best to support #fascism.

That 6b is vaporware though. It’ll have mostly disappeared before the 6 month hold expires.

There’s not going to be a six month hold. Trump crammed the board of the shell company with cronys who can vote to waive the 6 month hold. Trump’s plans are to unload the shares ASAP and just collect whatever they go for. Even if the stocks lose 90% of their value as a result, he would walk away with over half a billion in cash while the rest of his cronies are once again holding the bag and shocked when they realize that yes, the leopard will eat their faces too. Just like everyone else that came before them.

Then Truth Social will shutter and he’ll be right back on Twitter complaining about how the radical left censored and cancelled him and Biden needs to be thrown in jail for it.

He won’t be in a prison cell because of national security issues.

Trump will instead die in confinement in a shitty military barracks. There is already precedence for this with Nixon’s lawyer (not the dying part).

I’m waiting for one of these goofballs to start mainstreaming the qtarded Bircher Society stuff about how capitalized names are not your “real” names and how it’s not a “real” court if there is a flag with fringes on it (cuz something something Maritime Law, lol), etc…
