President Joe Biden named Donald Trump as the “primary threat” to “freedom and democracy” in the United States.
Anyone still thinking of Trump as the cause instead of the symptom is kidding themselves. He’s been powerless for almost 4 years now and MAGAism is at an all-time-high. There’s a much larger reckoning America needs to face instead of pinning Trump as some sacrificial lamb.
Let’s start by getting rid of that fat fuck and send him to prison until he ends up in a pine box.
Fuck him.
Then, let’s go after all the other traitors.
Start by getting him to spend one night in prison then you can plan out the rest of this.
He isn’t powerless though. Mike Johnson blocked the border bill, and is blocking any other bill exactly, because he told him to do it.
He currently isn’t holding any office, but the GOP is still doing what he tells them.
Him not having power is only on paper.
Trump has more control of the GOP Congress than Biden does of the Dems in Congress.
Well… I’m not sure I’d want the President to control the legislature, regardless of who the incumbent is. Checks and balances and such…
You need me to write a check to cover the balance, Mr. President?
Sure, but change my original meaning to reflect influence and it’s still troubling and accurate
Fair enough. There’s definitely good reason to not want that either though. To characterize Trump’s control over the party as troubling would be the understatement of the century.
The fact that Biden doesn’t wield the same influence is a good thing IMHO. It does present challenges in that some legislation has a more difficult time getting through since the left is slightly less unified than the right, it means that the left is less bereft of sycophants who simply do what they’re told. They are more likely to use their brains and represent their constituents better.
And pneumonia is just a symptom of AIDS, COVID, etc. Sometimes the symptoms will kill you before the cure can be implemented. Ignoring the dangerous effects would be just as foolish as not addressing the root cause.
Yes, he is the symptom, but he’s also the greatest threat to this country at the moment. Capitalism will eventually need to be done away with, but that’s harder to do under a fascist dictatorship.
Louder for the ppl in the back plz!
Face what? Poorly funded educational systems? Christo-fascism? Social Media? Corporate-run/for-profit news/media outlets? Funny how the guy not in power has so much pull in our government that he could persuade the Republican-controlled house of reps to withhold voting on immigration - the very thing this ‘lamb’ uses to scare up his base. Sorry my guy, but he’s part of the problem, too.
All of the above and then some. A person doesn’t get ~74,000,000 votes off a campaign of overt hatred without some larger societal issues in effect; people whose lives are going great don’t generally respond well to “we need to get rid of these people.”
Is MAGAism really at an all time high? In my mind it seemed to have peaked during his presidency.
Unfortunately, while your statement true, we need to win the battle before we can win the war.
Just because the gun we have to our head was bought by someone doesn’t make it not the biggest threat right now
He’s definitely a lightning rod though.
I think it is more the oligarchy that rules everything and controls all the media. Trump is a POS, but he is a symptom of a larger problem.
You mean Biden’s donors? Yeah, he isn’t going to call them out. Far easier to fear monger about evil orange man bad!
It’s not fear mongering if there is a warranted reason to fear it
I agree, trump is awful in every sense of the word and has no business in politics.
My point is instead of propping him up as a boogeyman to drive easy fundraising, how about we lock him up for selling state secrets and throw away the key? Or take your pick from one of his other 91 felony charges. We need justice, even for a former president.
I have no objection to your sentiment but merely your choice of words. Agreed.
The orange man is demonstrably worse… but neither are good.
More specifically its the people that support and enable him. If it wasnt him it would be someone else. The undercurrents of fascism have been brewing since before the end of ww2
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but calling Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables” is probably not the best way to get some of the more moderate, more-likely-to-be-wooed voters away from him on election day.
True. Gotta stop that too. Speaking from an emotional state gets you shorted in almost everything
The nature of bad faith is that there is no right answer. Treat them gently, they pretend their bullshit is normal and get worse. Call them out, they act offended and get worse.
They’re just bastards. If moral violence is the only language they understand, we might as well be honest about it, to their face.
WW1 and
actuallyarguably since the hapsburgs captured the vast majority of European power through marriages.Fair enough
He’s really more of a puppet or useful idiot. Like a mascot for the red team.
Yep. They want him as a front for their backdoor bullshit shenanigans
Hey, this isn’t desperate deflection. One of these comments is not like the others.
We don’t have a democracy in the US as long as the electoral college exists.

Also Democratic Party: “lmao lets run a scam primary and then blame the voters for not voting for us after we don’t meet their demands”
Man, I wish that were true.
Bull shit, the biggest threat is the entire sum of Christian nationalists who are using trump as their pawn.
Vice that versa my friend.
You and everyone who downvoted is a total and complete idiot if you think a failson like Trump is your problem and not the organized 50 year planning of christian fascists in your country. I don’t give a shit though, there is nothing stopping fascism from destroying the US and everyone it. Get fucked
You make a good point, but it’s also a covered up by being a complete douchebag. Such a shame. Maybe start by being civilized when talking to people online.
I would agree that there’s been a massive and well organized push by Christian fascists to destroy this country. However, to act like Trump is a pawn I think is wrong. He has benefited significantly from this dynamic.
Trump realized a long time ago that the Christian fascist party could be easily manipulated to get him whatever power he wanted. This is why he dropped all his pro choice liberal principals and jumped fully into the Christian fascist party. And it worked!
Thanks tone police.
🤡
I guess you’re going to ignore the response to your actual comment.
If you create a giant monster and set it out to attack a city, I don’t think its really smart to say monster isnt the biggest problem at a given moment. Unless giant monsters can be grown quicker than they can be defeated the realistic priority is going to be to deal with the giant monster first and then deal with the architects afterward.
Have you ever considered the thought the white supremacists joined the Christians just to take over?
I would think a Democratic party that can’t deliver what its base wants is an even greater threat.
“I’m not Trump.”
The only positive thing about the only Democrat choice for president.
In all fairness, he’s not a bad democratic choice. He’s a mid tier president who has been able to get a good amount of things done in spite of not having a supportive congress or judicial system.
To say it’s the only positive thing about him is to play into the hands of republicans.
This is a good answer.
Biden is not the president I wanted but he is certainly the president that I have willingly accepted. Not the whole radical I wanted but still getting a lot done.
I would like to think if he was given a democratic house and senate (as Trump had), he’d be able to get much more done. That is wishful thinking though…
Okay. Let me humble up.
Please share what he has done.
I have outlawing railway workers from striking and a string of upswings related to student loan forgiveness that are systemically struck down by the judicial and legislative branches, because he just needs the announcement, and the average American stopped paying attention before the forgiveness was delivered.
Getting out of Iraq was a highlight, that has been completely negated by getting into the genocide of the Palestinian people, the new conflict with the Houthi, and a few other not widely reported new military engagements.
Edit: also, I’m not a fucking republican. I am an American Liberal. Stop invoking Republicans when I was talking about the state of the Democrat party.
If you ignore a bunch of stuff yeah Biden is is just another warmonger neoliberal, and you seem like you are cherry picking to drive a narrative
Dont throw an NPR link at me.
Tell me what he has done that you have confirmed isn’t horse shit.
It’s uhhhh
Conveniently listed in the link
Did NPR give you an IP ban or something?
“Why aren’t you wasting your time typing a response I can flippantly ignore? This interaction is supposed to cost time for you, not me. I have other threads to post this same shit and only so many hours in a day.”
Yeah lol
“Don’t give me sources! Tell me your opinion, not the truth!”
“I don’t have opinions or thoughts of my own! All I can do is repeat what someone else said!”
You’re very picky about sources for someone who hasn’t provided any.
“What has he done?”
“Not like that. Wah wah wah.”
Keep in mind, I’m saying he’s mid tier. Trump had both house and senate when he was first elected and could barely get anything done. He certainly was able to destroy the Supreme Court (along with women’s rights) and cut taxes on the wealthy with that.
I think a lot of the negatives being assigned to Biden are not even his fault. They are unfortunate situations that he has had to react to, and has done so as good if not better than any other president would have.
Inflation? No way can you consider this his fault. If anything, Trump cutting corporate end executive taxes has contributed more to the inflation.
Ukraine? It’s an unfortunate situation started by Putin invading one of our allies. Not Biden’s fault. Our support in Ukraine has been bipartisan in addition to being relatively minor in cost. Somebody like Bush would have sent American troops to die. Biden has kept our support merely financial. And we aren’t the only country supporting them.
Israel? Another unfortunate situation that can’t be blamed on Biden. A country we have been giving bipartisan support to for decades has finally snapped and used that support for evil (as we all suspected it would the whole time). Even Trump contributed by moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. While Biden has contributed, he is a very minor part of this situation and can only react to it.
As for the accomplishments he made so far with only a majority senate and a hostile house. Here’s a partial list. The optimist in me says when he has control of the house and senate, he may accomplish actual progressive legislation. Maybe some Supreme Court justices will
dieretire.- Expanded Overtime Guarantees: Biden’s Department of Labor proposed a rule to raise the overtime pay cutoff by nearly $20,000, potentially benefiting around 3.6 million additional workers1.
- Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: The administration has announced nearly $400 billion in funding for over 40,000 infrastructure projects across the country, including roads, bridges, clean water, and broadband access2.
- Affordable Connectivity Program: Enabled more than 21 million low-income households to access free or discounted high-speed internet service2.
- Gun Violence Prevention: Biden established the Office of Gun Violence Prevention3.
- First Black Woman on Supreme Court: Ushered the first Black woman onto the Supreme Court3.
- Record Appointments to the Judiciary: Made record appointments to the judiciary3.
- Over-the-Counter Birth Control Pills: Made birth control pills available in drug stores1.
- Lowered Overdraft Fees: Implemented policies to lower overdraft fees1.
- Loosened Restrictions on Marijuana: Made changes related to marijuana regulations1.
- Color Decision for Air Force One: The administration made a big decision on the colors for Air Force One1.
Edit: I forgot that Biden started his term with both senate and house in Democratic control. I was wrong to imply this was different from Trump’s presidency.
I mean, he does a pretty good job of outlining his first term major accomplishments right on his website…https://joebiden.com/accomplishments/
Just like Trump has a manifesto of the evil shit he wants to do called Project 2025 on his.
*crickets chirping*
Crickets chirping intensifies.
He went back and got the railroad workers sick days…did u miss that?
He got Medicare to negotiate for prescription drugs…forget that?
He got us out of Afghanistan.
He’s brought back a strong market.
He worked directly on gas prices.
He’s fighting for higher min wage.
To your edit. You don’t have to be a Republican to play directly into the hands of the Republicans. Biden is not the liberal we want, but our election system is built with a conservative bias, so this is the best we can get.
Republicans want you to throw out the baby with the bath water. Stay home on Election Day. Vote for “None of the above”. Convince other liberals that things will only get better if we allow Republicans to control everything. This is the way we lose even more rights and endanger our future elections.
I vote on the merits of my party. Not out of paranoia about the other party.
I was a Democrat. Democrats used paranoia about Republicans to move far right.
I don’t have a party to vote for anymore.
That simple.
You have been given substantial evidence of the accomplishments of Biden. To say Biden have achieved nothing is merely putting your feelings before facts.
Democrats have presented stronger economies for 40 years. These are facts provable with numbers and cannot be denied. Granted you are still able to willfully ignore all that however when you don’t choose Biden for a better world for everyone you are only hurting yourself. This planet is already on fire and many people are just clinging to survive and you can only think yourself. Upon that route, we all die more uncomfortably.
Not a big fan of Joe either, but I’d very much rather have him than Trump.
Thank you for expressing your severely limited view of American politics.
Happy you’ve taken on genocide as something that is cool as long as it isn’t Trump doing it.
What an incredibly good faith arguer you are
Thank you for recognizing it.
Thanks for not recognizing sarcasm 😂😂🤡🤡
And your alternative to voting for either of the two parties in a two-party system is?
Between someone complacent in a genocide and someone who actively wishes to accelerate said genocide, the lesser evil is voting for the former. Or, one could vote third party and exercise some mental gymnastics to feel like they are morally superior while effectively doing nothing to solve the problem.
Not true, but if it was, would still be a compelling selling point
I cAn OnLy CoMpReHeNd BeInG tOlD wHiCh OnE oF tWo To PiCk.
Third party delusional eh?
Don’t understand the electoral college or fptp voting eh?
Tell me how a 3rd part gets to 270 ec votes…I’ll wait.
It sounds like you are calling me an idiot for making the same point you are. Nice.
Sucking a big ol fat genocidal cock, eh?
People who ignore everything they don’t care about in order to pretend others are extremists… Both sadden and amuse me. You’re setting the bar so low for what discourse is that it’s pathetic.
Anyone who thinks avoiding Trump is the most important thing in American politics? Yes we all simply love genocide. It makes us so happy.
When your moronic antics reelect Trump, he definitely will defy his promises and end all present and future genocides though
You can’t see the basic logic of how the elections work in America and that is your issue, not mine. Go ahead and campaign for trump. It’s truly sad when it’s a toss up between “this person is lying in order to get trump elected” and “this person is a fucking moron who actually thinks that a third party would ever ever even get close to a win in America”
That’s a pretty big positive, though.
