Please don’t. The Iranian attack was a limited response that they let everyone know about days in advance and only targeted military facilities. Iran has also said it considers the matter concluded, even though they only inflicted minor damage and as far as I know didn’t kill anyone. Contrast that with the Israeli attack which targeted an embassy (which aren’t supposed to be targets) within the borders of a foreign country and killed several people including senior Iranian officials.

Iran punched back to let you know they would if pushed, and they even pulled the punch. It’s over for now, so don’t keep pushing.

This is key. Iran retaliated against Israel for bombing its embassy.

      Iran handled it exceptionally well.

Israel’s too “prideful” to let it not turn to full on war.

That or they (by which I reference a party of many) want full on war to prolong their stay in power.

As long as it’s actually America bankrolled the whole thing and acting as an accountability shield in the UN, they will never stop.

They got victimized by nazis, they were given what they were given for it, and now they have wholly adopted the nazi playbook… except the ability to finance it themselves.

The Nazis couldn’t finance shit themselves either. They relied on loans and stolen goods.

Right, but China wasn’t fully bankrolling Germany. They pillaged and were on the hook for loans.

Israel is just full on siphoning money out of the American public trust.

American tax dollars are being used to finance Israel’s entire military program and many social programs no strings attached.

Straight up “don’t use our taxes for any social services for the taxpayers, use them to kill Palestinians”.

I understand human rights aren’t exactly great there but between this response and their response to a high profile US assassination, they’ve been more than reasonable internationally. Thier own citizens have more cause to hate the regime than most other people.

This is like the one time they’ve been reasonable.

They’re an authoritarian autocratic regime that supports terrorist groups in neighbouring countries and contributes to the destablisation of the region (along with the US, etc.).

Clearly somebody wants it to be. I simply remarked at how attitudes change over time and depending on the circumstance, taking no sides, and making it clear I was taking no sides, and a mod removed it.

Apparently this place is no different than reddit.

Edit: apparently I used an insulting term no longer appropriate. News to me.

Compared to current day Isreal, Iran is looking pretty sane. Even though, they’re still a bunch of assholes supplying Russia the drones that are killing Ukrainians in that genocide.

I agree that Iran apparently prefers not to escalate (although it’s hard to say whether its attack was deliberately limited or simply couldn’t penetrate Israel’s defenses) but this is consistent with Iran’s strategy of acting through proxies. Iran doesn’t want a more direct confrontation with Israel because the status quo allows it to damage Israel much more safely and cost-effectively than it could by fighting directly. In this context, effective Israeli action against Iran requires escalation because otherwise even defeating the proxies is still a net loss for Israel, and so killing the specific Iranian leaders responsible is a good strategy because it makes hostile action against Israel much more costly specifically to those instigating it.

so killing the specific Iranian leaders responsible is a good strategy

You lost me there. Perhaps some people would agree, but likely only until it’s their leaders being killed in their embassies. There are international norms giving embassies protected status for a reason. Would you think Iran killing US officials doing negotiations in Egypt is a good strategy?
