Wait, why is he reinstating the account? Boy I’m really starting to slide over to “he’s trying to destroy Twitter on purpose” from “he’s just very, very stupid.”

Your boy Hanlon would like to remind you

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I know, I know, but I’m trying to see doing something like this as just plain stupidity and it’s hard for me to accept that this is just stupid Elon being stupid.

Yeah, I’m not personally attributing malice, I’ve just felt like it’s a bit of a show of power/absurdity of wealth that he can kind of accidentally buy one of the largest companies, mess with it for the lulz without caring about the consequences. It seems like the stupidity I would have done of I was a billionaire when I was a nihilistic teen high on chans boards.

I counter your ‘Hanlon’s Razor’ with what I call ‘Hanlon’s Face’:

Never attribute to stupidity that which is indistinguishable from malice. A cut to the face bleeds no matter the cause.

Calling the diver a pedophile was always projection. He just wants more content for personal use.

Am I reading this right? An account got suspended for posting CP, they complained and Musk personally decided to reinstate it?

Jesus Christ. Even 4chan would ban users for posting CP, and Musk can’t even clear that bar. He’s going to force countries (as in democracies) to ban the platform altogether.

Don’t besmirch the name of the greatest muppet to ever exist by associating him with the dumbest muppet, Elongated Muskrat.

Yeah, I’d really like for “Elmo” to stop being used to describe Musky. Elmo is a national treasure.

My favorite Sweetums moment is in Muppet Treasure Island (the most perfect movie ever made) where Kermit thinks Sweetums is going to hit him and Mr. Erroll with a tree trunk, and Sweetums swings and takes out his fellow pirates instead. Kermit says, “Thank you, but uhhh… aren’t you supposed to be fighting against us?” And Sweetums says, “Are you kidding?? I LOVE you guys! WAH HA HA!”

Sweetums is my favorite. Also Gonzo. And Rizzo. And the Swedish chef. And Pepe. And Animal. I think maybe I just really love The Muppets.

While the media posted by the influencer has been removed, numerous text interactions with the deleted posts from his followers are still on the platform. Some of those posts mention a child depicted in the photos as young as one and a half years old.

    Source

To make matters worse, the image appears to have been on the platform for several days before being removed. Lucre even described the image in detail in a separate tweet, noting that it had been taken from a video. The video in question involved the abuse of three children, one of whom was reportedly strangled to death after the filming.

    Source

The CSAM material was left up for FOUR DAYS (July 22-26) before he was even suspended. Then they let him “delete” it…and reinstated him. People commented during those 4 days DESCRIBING THE IMAGES.

What the FUCK please tell me this is worth a visit from the FBI, getting removed from the App Store, some massive GDPR violation, fucking something. How is this story not bigger news?

Edit: To put this in perspective, 4 graphic CSAM images that an account with 500,000 followers posted were left up on Twitter for 4 days. The person who posted the images was suspended for less than a day.

Could we maybe not keep using the Elmo nickname when taking about child abuse? Elmo doesn’t deserve that. Musk doesn’t deserve to be associated with Elmo in the first place, tbh. It’s not an insult, is an honorific.
