As a father, I take great pride in introducing my son to new experiences and cultures. So you can imagine my disappointment when we recently visited a highly recommended authentic Mexican restaurant, only to have my son order a burger and fries?

I mean, what kind of uncultured simpleton doesn’t order tacos or enchiladas at a Mexican restaurant? And to make matters worse, he doesn’t even pronounce Mexico with an H. It’s MEH-i-co, not MEX-i-co

This would be me. Because I don’t like tomatoes, peppers, sour cream, or avocado, I don’t have a lot of options at Mexican restaurants any fancier than Taco Bell.

Indeed, Taco Bell is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants, but my family likes higher-quality places.

I mean, there are things wrong with Taco Bell, I just don’t care about them.

Salsa verde is still made with peppers. Al pastor might work depending on how promiment the peppers are - I generally don’t mind the spice, just the flavor and texture of peppers themselves.

Anyways thanks for the advice. I don’t really have a good reason to be arguing this, so don’t feel like I’m obligating you to make a counterpoint.

Güero’s Mexican street burger, complete with fried American cheese, habanero slaw, pickled jalapeno, tamarind-habanero-roasted tomato, and a big dollop of guacamole.

This is one of the best burgers in town. Don’t get me wrong, the deseyano is my go to from here, but sometimes a burger is the only thing that hits the spot.

there’s a new-mexico (new-mex-mex I guess?) restaurant around the corner that does a fucking amazeballs Hatch Chile relleno burger. Awesome burritos and tacos and everything else too, but that burger is the first time I’ve ever ordered a hamburger at a mexican (er) restaurant.

There’s a Mexican restaurant in my town that I love. I love the whole menu, and they also happen to make a burger that’s my favorite burger in town too.

If you ask for extra cinco-de-mayonnaise and wash it down with a happy hour taco-rita, then it goes back to being authentic!

    “Authentic” Mexican.

Dad is an uncultured simpleton for trying to limit the scope and depth of a national cuisine when it is a living cuisine. Even “traditional” is dubious, but at least it can be relatively qell defined by specifying how long something must occur the same way to be considered traditional.

“Authentic” mexican food can only be had when in mexico, and I will die on that hill, but not without a few greasy, spicy farts towards anyone objecting to my authentic authority on this subject.

I have had some good Mexican food in Mexico, but the best Mexican food I’ve ever had was on Bali, hands down.

Tattletale Times is a satire news website! Poking fun at the unfortunate fact that there is some asshole Dad out there like this but I took it over the top. I got the idea bc my 4 year old asks for a cheeseburger at every place we eat at. I have to tell him sorry but there aren’t any burgers at jimmy John’s! But he’s such a picky eater I call it a win if I can get him to eat anything that’s not candy!

You might want to specify that it’s satire somewhere on the site. The Qanon stuff was considered a joke until suddenly it wasn’t. You never know what stupid people will run with.

I did be sure to mention it’s a satire site on the About page and right under the logo on the header of every page (although now looking at it again, it is too small).
On Lemmy I include “Read the rest of the satire news article here at…” at the bottom of every post description. I also have it listed on the side bar of this community and the bio in my profile.
Although, it doesn’t matter if I have it listed if people don’t see it. thanks for the feedback! I’ll start with making the header tagline larger and think of other ideas.
