Castration has been used as a legal form of punishment to enable sex offenders to reenter a community with reduced danger of re-offending, according to legal experts. California became the first state to legalize castration, and a handful of states followed suit. Two states have repealed such laws, but eight states, including Florida and Texas, have some form of castration law on the books.

This is one half of the reason I’m against retributive justice. Can you imagine being the guy that gets wrongly castrated? I don’t know all the details of this case, maybe he’s 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt absolutely guilty. I don’t trust Louisiana to ensure that everyone that gets the punishment is.

That’s kinda wild. If we had a justice system that I trusted, I’d would be okay with retributive punishment or eye for an eye style.

Of course, even in a just system, I sometimes wonder what should be done with rapists and those who harm children.

I assumed this would be chemically castrated, but no, it literally means they’re going to physically castrate this guy.

Is physical castration a thing? Vasectomies are physical, and that’s seems much easier and more desirable to achieve chemically than castration.
