Holy shit! I hope this is real. Room temperature conduction. All those mini gadgets and future tech will be possible. So much would change I can’t even comprehend it yet, I’ve never taken superconductors seriously enough to think of all the ramifications before now, like cold fusion. Wow
If you read the article, it only happens when the copper atom joins the lattice in a specific location which is not the lowest energy state of the lattice. That means it would be nearly impossible to produce on mass and would potentially degrade over time.
Still super cool, but nowhere near being viable in any practical sense yet.
Oh okay. I read the article but i thought the simulation was saying the copper atoms would automatically run through the lattice as a physical necessity of the structure. I could have easily read it wrong, I was kind of waiting for more proof before I paid too much attention to the technical details since it’s still a simulation.
