Okay, I did some stretches and I feel warmed up.

My biggest complaint is that the answer to the question “So, we are forced to spend time and money on fighting crooked Joe Biden?” is “no”.

He wasn’t forced to fight Joe Biden. Instead of attacking Joe he could’ve focused on extolling his own virtues.

I feel like reacting this way indicates that he doesn’t see himself as a candidate worthy of winning the election on his own merit.

Yeah, but if the campaign was based on the belief that “Trump is the best candidate regardless of who he’s running against” there would never be a need to pivot based on the opponent changing.

Which to me indicates Trump was viewing his 2024 campaign as a grudge match between himself and Biden as opposed to viewing it as a campaign to be elected president of the United States of America.

Like, where’s the strength of conviction? The guy is flailing and it’s embarrassing.

His campaign is a desperate attempt to get back that sweet sweet presidential immunity, plus all the perks he’ll get selling out the country for pennies on the dollar.

This just came to me - you now need to run for president.

400m lap before any presidential debate, speech or campaign announcements. If you do it in more than the country average you can’t respond and first back can start.

Disabled candidates can follow paralympics rules.

He spent so much effort attacking Joe Biden. Mostly because his entire campaign is centered around attacking Joe Biden, and not any real policies. Now that’s all in vain.

      He’s mostly thinking about himself.

That’s good for the democrats. They don’t need to change direction of their campaign while the republicans must change their entire campaign now.

It’s not good that the political climate has become like this, but the only way to defeat Trump is to get down to his level. If he’s not offering any real politics then why should the dems?

If that isn’t a complete non sequitur then surely it argues in the other direction. Voters deserve to be treated with respect. The fact that Trump is disrespectful doesn’t excuse anyone else from actually doing the job.

Why doesn’t Trump just drop out since he was only in the race to challenge Biden? Then the Democrats will have to rebuild their election strategy. Seems like a pretty obvious course of action unless you are complete narcissist who is fine taking down their party with them.

You can tell they’re pissed he dropped out because the more obvious framing is that thier anti-Biden campaigning worked, and they were successful.

For them to act like they got ripped off instead tells you everything you need to know.

I agree, I believe that they are mad that their campaign worked too well, they didn’t want him to drop out as he was a viable candidate to win against as he was slipping hardcore poll wise and was shooting himself in the foot, he wouldn’t have won. Now they need to re-evaluate their strategy to fight against Harris, which is going to be difficult considering that she is basically a counter opposite of what Biden was and has the exact opposite tactics he did, including background and has a solid history. I personally don’t care much about her but, I can see where the threat is.

If he felt “forced” to fight Joe in order to win the election it indicates that he doesn’t see himself as a candidate worthy of winning on his own merit.

      He’s always the victim.

“crooked joe biden”. minding the republicans (and conservatives, overalll) need to use insulting nicknames only, why are dems not using a nice descriptive nickname for the opponent too - like, a convicted felon, for example. he is exactly that. not trump, not mr. trump, not donald, but one and only: the convicted felon. dmc should use only that.

This just highlights how well thought out the timing of Biden’s statement was.

I don’t know when he made his decision, but it was probably weeks ago. He pretended he was still going to be running so that the GOP spent their entire convention attacking him. Once the convention was over, he waited until just after the Sunday politics talk shows were done, and then made his announcement.

Now they get weeks to build up excitement for the Democratic convention while the Republican news cycle is over.

(P.S. as further evidence this wasn’t just a spur of the moment decision, look at all the prominent democrats now coming out in support of Harris. I don’t think that just happens. I think that only happens after some back-room negotiations. I think these negotiations were done, their support for Harris was locked in, and then they went quiet until the time of the announcement. The democratic party is famous for having its fights out in the open. But, other than Manchin, I can’t think of any Democrats (or sorta-kinda-democrats in his case) who even whispered about challenging her.)

To be fair, I’d have expected that number to be MUCH higher. According to polling he has about a 44% approval rating. Divide the ~342MM population of the USA and that means that .000058% of his fanbase have made accounts. Honestly seems a bit low. Here’s to hoping that he spends the rest of his life in prison for the crimes he comitted.

Twitter was public last election. So many probably visited his Twitter without signing up.

Those same people may have signed up for Truth Social after it was created.

So there is a potential overlap.
