      Seems pretty weird to me.

Sounds weirdly like projection, or maybe the bigot is just jealous about a father’s “access to at least 4 kids around the clock” - which is a super weird take, and likely a confession.

has access to at least four kids

Otherwise known as being a parent. I dread to think why this persons mind went here and what they would do with access to children. Projection all the time with these freaks.

He can take them to drag conventions and then post the evidence, post pictures and videos of criminal sexual conduct … and somehow not end up in jail, or better yet, the gallows.

Because, Stupid Peters, those things are not against the law.

I know, I know, you conservatives have a real hard time with that concept.

I mean, taking a kid to a drag show is illegal in TN, right now. The GOP is actively working to make these things illegal.

Does the law say “drag show” or does it say something like “performance of a sexual nature” which the GOP is intentionally conflating with drag shows?

Do people actually take their kids to drag shows or is that just a right wing talking point? I’m not really sure what kids would get out of it, aren’t those aimed at adults?

I’ve never seen a kid at an adult-oriented drag show, fortunately, but I’ve seen Pride events occasionally offering a kid-friendly show, and there’s the drag story hours that are a perennial conservative lightning rod. Drag queens are good at interacting with crowds and they’re generally really colorful - they’re probably quite entertaining during story hour.

“Some pervert homo has access to at least four kids around the clock all the time,” Peters said in a video posted to both Instagram and Rumble. “He can take them to drag conventions and then post the evidence, post pictures and videos of criminal sexual conduct … and somehow not end up in jail, or better yet, the gallows.”

You know who’s a real piece of shit? You with the microphone. I’m sick of these assholes inciting (or trying to) violence and getting away with it. I hope this guy takes his ass to the cleaners.

All of Conservative Media is built on lying. I think it might have started with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck with a straight line to Tucker Carlson. Everyone lies, all the time.

It is good to see them being held to account by people, though. Defamation is notoriously hard to prove here, yet people who fight back seem to be winning.

This is rhetoric to start labeling LGBTQ individuals as sexual predators that are harmful to children.

Wow what a coincidence, Florida just passed a law that allows the death penalty for sexual predators against children.

It’s enraging because I’m sure if you asked them if child marriage should be illegal in this country, they’d probably say no. What happens for all those adults who marry 17 year olds legally in Florida? Should they be given the death penalty?

Also fyi many times child spouses can’t divorce, and once married they become a ward of their adult spouse, not their parents. Imagine how fucked up that is. There is no lower limit to child marriage in 4 US states. Statutory rape laws in most states make exceptions for spouses, even if one spouse is a minor and one is an adult.

      https://www.governing.com/policy/states-rethink-child-marriage-in-2024

According to Reiss, there’s “almost no opposition from the public” when anti-child marriage legislation comes to the table. Where Reiss does see pushback is from smaller fundamentalist groups that focus on “religious freedom” and “parents’ rights.”

Aka Warren Jeffries types of predators. Fuck these people with their faux concern for their victims. Bunch of shitbags

The scourge of outrage politics, outrage “news”, is even bigger than this instance. I really hope to see not just this guy win, but an endless stream of vilified people.

Sure, free speech is a good thing but no one ever promised you would be free of consequences for your speech. I wish all these hate-mongers to be held responsible for the harm their hate speech does

I dont understand why “homo” is used as an insult

Of course he is part of the Homo genus, its not hard to tell

The most confusing part is that the one who says this as an insult dont know that they are also insulting themselves. Homo habilis is part of the Homo genus too

Well meaning, but sort of intentionally obtuse. You know very well homo is a slur to those people as shorthand for homosexual. What’s the point in pretending that’s not what it obviously means in this context?

Check out what Homo Habilis actually is and you’ll understand the comment.

Edit: the top comment was using the ‘homo’ slur as a way to call the right winger a monkey essentially.

I was asking myself about that the other day when watching some coverage or whatever about Laura Loomer and all the hateful shit she tosses out there. Like why hasn’t anyone just brought libel charges down on her? Are they too busy doing other things to allow themselves to be distracted by it?

This gay dad was called a ‘pervert homo’ by a right-wing talk show host.

That could lead to an amusing court case, as one of the common defenses against slander is truth, so it’d probably be a route for the defense attorney to try.

    https://www.findlaw.com/injury/torts-and-personal-injuries/defenses-to-libel-and-slander.html

Truth as a Defense to Libel and Slander

The common law (law developed over history by courts) traditionally presumed that a statement was false once a plaintiff proved that the statement was defamatory. Under modern defamation law, a plaintiff who is a public official or public figure must prove falsity as a prerequisite for recovery. Some states likewise now require falsity as an element of defamation that any plaintiff—even a private individual—must prove in order to recover. Where this is not a requirement, truth serves as an affirmative defense to a defamation claim (cause of action).

The applicability of the truth defense is strong against all types of defamation lawsuits, including defamation per se actions, where a plaintiff does not need to prove actual damages. A defamatory statement does not need to be literally true for this defense to be effective. Courts require that the statement is substantially true for the defense to apply. This means that even if the defendant states some false facts, if the “gist” or “sting” of the communication is substantially true, then the defendant can rely on the defense.

Defense Attorney: “Your Honor, clearly Exhibit 11 demonstrates that the plaintiff is a pervert homo!”

Probably not what you thought you were gonna be doing at mid-career after going to law school.

      Key word there is pervert.

Using homo as a derogatory term for a gay man may in fact be totally legal, if morally foul. But calling a father a pervert who has interest in his children is the real defamation here, and the real point of what this idiot was saying.

As long as it is true that this father never abused his kids, then it’s kind of a slam dunk defamation suit. You can’t just go around calling people perverts towards children, those kind of accusations do serious harm to social lives and job prospects.
