Republican officials see Trump’s campaign as comparable in size to a midterm election rather than a presidential
Republican officials are raising the alarm that Donald Trump’s campaign has invested far fewer resources for its voter turnout operation in battleground states than previous presidential election races, and attempts to bridge the gap with political action committees have come too late.
The Republican National Committee once envisioned an extensive field operation for the 2024 election, including having about 90 staffers in the must-win state of Pennsylvania.
But the Trump campaign scrapped those plans when it took over the RNC in March, redirecting the focus on field operations to combating supposed voter fraud and pursuing a twin voter turnout strategy of relying on several political action committees and ardent Trump volunteers.
Yet more proof that Trump’s strategy – his primary one, not even a plan B – is to try to sabotage the counting and certification of the votes and be put in power either by SCOTUS or by neither candidate getting to 270 EC votes resulting in the election being decided by a “one state, one vote” poll in the House.
whatever he does, he’ll fucking get away with it of course

And grift. Never forget the grift. Do you expect Donald Trump to pay for his lavish lifestyle (and lawyers) out of his own pocket?
I was going to make a joke how they can’t pay staffers while the war chest is ransacked by the legal teams, but I understand the lawyers aren’t getting paid either…
His cult would crawl thru broken glass for him. But nobody else will. There aren’t enough idiots left to recruit that would make any meaningful difference.
Let’s make sure it’s too small everywhere
Site to find opportunities to volunteer for dems around you (including virtually)
Like his hands? ;)
It’s a really interesting test of how much conventional campaigning and turnout strategies really matter nowadays.
Quite a bit of what we do is because “we’ve always done it this way,” and there’s surprisingly little data on what actually makes a difference in an election at this level where both of the candidates are universally known.
I got a Trump door hanger. Meanwhile, the dems are canvassing the neighborhood on issues like public education vs charter schools. They’re doing more than just going to Kinkos.
I’m a pro-immigration canvasser in a rural-ish area of a swing state, and I’ve seen a lot of dem canvassers from other orgs on my turfs.
I’ve seen a car of people putting out door hangers for trump, but they weren’t canvassing at all, just leave the thing and take off. Meanwhile there are a dozen dem flyers there already. That’s it. That’s the extent of what I’ve seen out there.
In 2020 I’d run into lots of canvassers for trump… buuuuuuuuuut those groups didn’t get paid like they were supposed to, and those canvassers got super salty. Rightly so. It’s no wonder nobody wants to do it this time around.
No it’s too large
running a voter turnout campaign would cut into trump’s embezzlement fund
