      They are using the american definition of libertarian, which is basically a pseudoconservative.

      Quite different from the european definition, which includes leftist ideologies like libertarian marxism (which is in practice extremely close to anarcho-communism)

        Of all the age of consent arguments libertarians make this is by far the weakest. Age of consent is literally up to a vote and can be changed. Thats how Arizona got it’s Romeo and Juliett law in the first place.

          Weak, sure. It’s also a public argument made by an official Libertarian Party politician. Most of the stronger ones come from more anonymous libertarians. If that’s what they’re saying in public, etc. etc.

        I guess the libertarian label got coopted in US just as the democrat one. That’s not unexpected, but sad

          Yeah, it’s like how as an American i have to call myself an anti-monarchist because republican means not quite the opposite here

            Oof. Yeah, from the outside perspective it just looks like all the options you guys have is just different labels slapped on top of conservatism
