I rather like the sound of “a woman by choice”, since it implies she is a woman, that it is a choice, and that the choice does apply. I’d be curious to hear opinions from trans people about that, but it seems very respectful.
Is it really a euphemism? A trans person inherently has to care deeply about their gender, whereas a large amount of the cis population is sorta just like “well it’s easiest to vaguely conform to these societal expectations” and not like, hyper masculine/feminine.
