Summary

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced she will not attend Donald Trump’s inauguration, stating, “I don’t celebrate rapists,” referencing Trump’s history of sexual assault allegations.

While Trump has never been convicted of rape, a jury found him civilly liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll.

Ocasio-Cortez also criticized TikTok for crediting Trump with restoring service in the U.S., calling it a propaganda move.

She warned of social media platforms being weaponized by right-wing interests, claiming they are contributing to the rise of “21st-century fascism” under the incoming administration.

Adjudicated rapist is not the same as convicted rapist. That’s the real issue. Trump was never charged with rape.

I don’t disagree and I’d concede the point if I was talking to a lawyer or other legal expert that was having a discussion with me in good faith.

These fucks exploit the shit out of good faith and technicalities so fuck it.

      You’re[1] wrong, it was rape.

      1. Pst, I’m not specifically speaking to you Jordan but in a generalized sense. We need to call rape rape.

I think that being transparent in my reasoning is acting in good faith to this community. But, I’ve worked in professional environments for like twenty years now… I know that being fully honest isn’t always a good policy. Communication between humans is complex and I’m morally comfortable with my decisions of when I chose to use linguistic tricks to reinforce or erode an argument.

You’re perfectly fair to judge me for not being full transparent all the time (though I do think that’s quite naïve) and you’re also fair to judge me about when I chose to use these tricks to push a viewpoint. That’s well within your rights.
