No landscaping, can’t find the front door, open sprawl… yeah not great.
Is the intention no landscaping or has it just not been put in yet. I see a lot of photos like this but I can’t believe so many folks are getting away from grass obsession.
It was built 17 years ago, so it’s a choice. Although you can’t see the quite large and, (it’s default in Ireland so not a lot of credit for this) lush green grass and trees backing on to the river in the other photos. What you see in the photo is what they’re considering the “driveway” - Irish houses don’t really do garages. I would guess there is usually 3 or 4 or 7 cars parked in front of it when the grown family are home. The photo seems to be taken from right at the edge of the driveway with a wide angle lens - it’s not actually that large an area.

I work very nearby. It’s a typical 2006 folly house from the Celtic Tiger era. I suspect its probably quite nice to live in, even if the style falls on the ugly side because they neither captured classic nor modern architecture.
It’s almost certainly a single build by someone in the construction industry for themselves though, so I don’t know if it fits “McMansion” besides being a bit ugh from that paticular angle.
What do you mean, no landscaping? There’s a potplant on every corner, a whole load of black plastic laid next to the decking, and a picnic table out on the lawn there. What more could you want?
How much mica in that one, eh?
The hole makes it look like the front door is 15ft tall
That and the tall window next to it are really an eyesore. Remove those and add a normal door and window(s) and it would look fine.
It’s tough to grasp the scale at first glance - it took me a few tries. What an odd front entrance design.
