People forget but in thr 90s the government was so concerned about people giving their children food poisoning that all meat was cooked onto shoe leather

The 90’s may not have been a culinary golden age, but man I wish that was the biggest problem we were facing today.

There were more problems in the 90s, we just lacked the hyper-awareness that we have today

The biggest difference between the 90s and now is that in the 90s we had the feeling that things were being better and that it would continue in this direction.

We might have less problems now but unlike the 90s now it’s really hard to look forward and think things will get better.

The 90ies, where germany still taxed hoarded money, great times…

They haven’t since then. How stupid.

I realise the 90s is park nostalgia for a lot of people… But it was still extremely shit for alot of people, particularly lgbtq. And most non coloured people in the US were still blissfully unaware of just how fucked the police and justice system were to minorities.

It was a functional kind of stupid. Fukuyama infamously declared “I guess we’re safe forever.” We saw a global environmental threat… and fucking solved it. Third-party politics almost kinda stood a chance, right up until they ruined everything.

I am well aware of the bigotry, extremism, and violence that steeply diminished over time. Right now is still worse for glaringly obvious reasons.

Apparently, acknowledging that things were better in a previous decade is essentially the beginning of, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! FUCK YOUR FEELINGS! YOUR BODY MY CHOICE! DEPORT ALL BROWN PEOPLE! LET’S GO BRANDON! RUSSIA! RUSSIA! RUSSIA!”
