Just a midly interesting post about how I can’t connect here on my work network anymore. So I took the time to use a bit more mbin, I like the clean interface, the better integration with Mastodon. However, the bad image integration and their own version of markdown is kinda frustrating. May-be I’ll create an alt on piefed and an extra lemmy account.

You have time to browse Lemmy at work? That’s nice…
Right? lol I wished I would have been able to browse stuff while I worked before I retired! lol
This is one of the reasons I host OpenVPN from home.
My mobile devices are always connected to my home VPN, so my traffic cannot be monitored or modified. Also keeps me behind pihole for adblocking and private dns records (self-hosted services).
Some corporate firewalls will block most outbound ports as well. TCP on port 22 usually makes it through.
Hey, I had a question about passing all your traffic through a home VPN: What does your internet plan look like? Asking because in some places ISPs are such that the download speed (which is what is on all their marketing material) is good, but upload speed is really shitty. Downloading a 500 MB file takes far less time than uploading it.
It’s a ‘1.5gigabit’ fiber connection from Telus, in the middle of a city.
And on the off-chance that port 22 is blocked, you could always spin up sshd on a different port. Hell, if you’re not hosting www content, you could have sshd listen on ports 80 or 443, and no sane employers blocks those ports outright.
Those proxies are sometimes weird. Ours blocks my toot.jeena.net but not my tube.jeena.net and I have no idea how they decide to block or not. Both are single user instances of mastodon and peertube.
The guys that run the work proxies are usually either using a public blacklist, or something that came from the site triggered them to block it.
Maybe it was the amount of traffic, the ratio of images, or even someone complaining that someone wasn’t doing their work.
Why are you using work internet for shit posting tho…
Daddy gonna make a list!
Already tried, both alexandrite and photon, not working either
