Well, not a fair comparison, because the guy on the left is a time traveler who is poor in the FUTURE where inflation is so rampant, that yes: pants do cost $2,500. But think about this: minimum wage is $1,500 an hour after the “Fight for Fifteen Hundred” labor movement took off.

Yes, mostly uneducated poor people. Educate them and they start acting more and more like the rich (not spend money on everything that falshes in the sun).

It might be cheap but it’s also very reliable, intuitive, familiar and all that in even weird conditions… which millions of controllers prove in any gamers household every day. In addition it’s used by military forces all around the world - including bomb squads because it works (mostly its the xbox 360 as far ad know)

the problem is elsewhere - i’m almost certain of it.

Yeah I’m with you I really doubt that the controller was the definite issue. Though that particular one apparently has terrible reviews on amazon because of frequent loss of wireless connection.

It’s not that it was the issue. It probably wasn’t, although we’ll never know.

It paints a picture. A bigger picture of carelessness, corner cutting, rushing, and absolute indifference to the lives that depend on this company making its sub work.

And in a larger sense, it paints a picture of the way the wealthy run every aspect of the world now: carelessness, corner cutting, rushing, and absolute indifference to human lives.

We will know a lot more. They’re going to piece this entire thing back together. We already know that it imploded on the way down. I didn’t hit anything as a result of a failed controller. The controller shit is just taking up so much space in these discussions.

Yeah, wired Xbox controllers, not wireless Logitech crap. You willing to entrust your life to a working Bluetooth connection?

Certainly no need to reinvent the wheel. But maybe use something stronger than dental floss to secure it to the axle.

Aircraft control systems with their multiple levels of redundancies and fallback modes are what I’d call “reliable”, not anything that’s a consumer product. Yes, the military used them, but they were using them to operate the periscope on a sub, not drive the damn thing.

Dude that’s not an Xbox controller, it’s a Logitech third party you’d have fights over your buddies with to not have to use.

Also, Xbox controllers are not used where people’s lives are at risk. Periscopes, drones, etc. but they’re not using them as primary controls on human manned craft.

I owned that controller, it’s the Logitech 710

It was actually one of the most reliable 3rd party wireless controllers. Since it used a fob it also worked when Bluetooth was unreliable (which has been most of my bluetooth experiences)

Still seems stupid to use it for a sub, but for playing games I’d def use it over a lot of controllers.
