Donald Trump has said that he and Vladimir Putin have agreed to begin negotiations to broker a ceasefire in Ukraine, as the secretary of defence, Pete Hegseth, said that Ukraine would have to cede territory and reject Nato membership in order to reach a deal.

The rapid entry into negotiations with Russia and open demands that Ukraine concede land will have set alarm bells ringing in Kyiv and among its European allies that the Trump administration will offer minimal resistance to Putin’s demands in order to cut a deal as quickly as possible.

In a social media post, Trump said that held a “lengthy and highly productive phone call” with Putin and that they agreed to “have our respective teams start negotiations immediately”.

And give up half a trillion in ‘rare earths’. That’ll be a hard no, and Trump wants to end NATO anyway. What horseshit.

I wonder how much of that territory trump negotiated for himself. And do you think he consulted Zelensky? Cause I’m pretty sure that guy said the peace talks will only start at returning territory and self determination.

Here’s to hoping everyone else continues to arm Ukraine, it has been the single best investment into the fight against Russian tyranny in our lifetimes. And as a side benefit, it seems to be militarily weakening North Korea too.

    You can’t assuage bullies.

2014: Russia occupies Crimea. “Oh well, there isn’t much you can do. Just let Russia have it and they’ll be content”

2022: Russia occupies more of Ukraine. “Oh well, there isn’t much you can do. Just let Russia have it and they’ll be content”

Anyone wanna place bets for when Russia comes for the rest? Because they will come for the rest.

So Russia walks off with 1/5 of Ukraine and Ukraine doesn’t even get a guaranteed security measure? Fuck Ukraine for wanting to divorce their psycho husband that now wants to murder them.

They can hold on with EU help alone. That said, it will suck balls, and I winder if the EU can pull its head out of its ass for once.

It might be a case where the EU needs to help Ukraine stick it out long enough for the US to pull its head out of its ass in the next 4 years.

At that point, the war will have been going on for 7 years. Ugh.

By that time there likely won’t be much left of Ukraine. They’ll run out of people eventually while Russia will probably send their elderly, should they have to

Neither side will run out of people, it’s all equipment, and Ukraine et al. is just gearing up properly while the Russians are past their prime.

The question is how will they navigate Trump.

So everybody in the EU seems to have an opinion about the EU not being part of this, or at least that’s what the media wants me to believe. How is the UK handling this?
