I say, let’s fucking go. It’ll be bad in short term , but longterm it’ll be a boom, diversifying your trade partners is never a bad thing, and our over reliance on the US has only made us complacent… Tarrifs or not, when your girlfriend says she’s leaving and then changes her mind, you pack her bags all the same.

Remember when everybody said “Oh, Trump didn’t get anything. Canada was just promising things it already promised to shut him up.”?

This is why that’s a bad idea. Trying to appease this man just makes him believe that whatever he wanted in the first place is now his by divine birthright, and he interprets your appeasement as an acknowledgement that you know he’s right and you’re willing to cave.

You cannot give this man even what you believe are “symbolic” wins.

Quite frankly I doubt they’ll actually go into effect. The first time was do or not do, and In my view, they want the base support of it without the actual damages.

Though I’m not especially confident they aren’t stupid enough not to nuke it either way

I do remember getting a lot of flak for suggesting otherwise. But maybe they were right and Trump will keep giving one month reprieves indefinitely.

They’ve already been doing a “buy canadian” campaign and I started shopping at co-op and most of their meat is Canadian so I think we will be okay as consumers. It’ll take time for production to adapt tho
