I don’t think we should give away weapons to Israel, but why should sales be blocked? Israel has a right to defend itself.

man, looking at your history, you seem to go out of your way to have the absolute worst takes in history. I mean, it really takes work to be as hated as you are everywhere you go.

if israel wants to defend themselves, let them do it. there’s no need for us to be the ones defending them. otherwise, it’s not them defending themselves, is it?

Yes, they should defend themselves, but if we sell (not give away) weapons, I don’t see anything wrong with that. I’m not saying we should defend Israel with American troops, but Israel has a right to exist and procure weapons

They have a right to defend themselves when they are being attacked. They fucked around and are in the process of finding out. They don’t have any right to defense when attacking first.

It’s really simple. Russia attacked Ukraine so when Ukraine occupied Kursk, Russia has zero right to complain.

If a bully keeps bullying someone, until the victim finally snaps back, is it the bully defending themselves or should they not be held at fault for the bullying in the first place?

I think what they’ve done is far more than merely defending themselves.

Yes, Hamas is evil and did heinous things to the Israeli people, but the response was disproportionate and targeted civilians. Even the lowest estimates show that one in every fifty people in Gaza have been killed, and that number includes mostly women and children, not combatants. Heck, other estimates show nearly double that death toll.

And let’s not even start on the forced displacement of almost a million (!!!) people.

Don’t forget the public admission from Israel that they want to kill everyone in Gaza that doesn’t leave.

This. It goes far beyond reckless, far beyond callous; it’s literal genocide.

My friend the real death toll could be ten times the 40k killed I’m being told by the media. I don’t know, I’ve never been there. Everything is so fucked it’s hard to know who to believe.

The UN has published the estimated deaths to be at least 200k+ because of famine and the lack of medical care.

          • Humanitarian aid was blocked
          • Food trucks were stopped
          • Hospitals are bombed

          That’s a Genocide.

Oh yeah, I’m using very low numbers (ie. just the bodies who have been identified) so there’s little room for argument. The actual death toll is unknowable because it’s so large.

Oh yeah, no doubt about it. I just can’t ever know how many bodies are under the remains of their buildings. I imagine that could even be a conservative number. I doubt they were doing a census.

It’s making me sick thinking about it every day and I’m so privileged to even have the luxury of giving a shit.

It’s actually just a limitation of the weapon system. Unfortunately, they switched to the foreskin guidance systems.

To add to what the other guy said: As Hamas is an insurgency working in territory that Israel is illegally occupying, Israel does not in fact have a right to defend itself. It has no right to do anything except get the fuck out of Gaza (including its territorial waters and airspace).

The money for these “sales” is aid from the US government.

Israel is unique in that they are the only country that gets its aid from the US government on January 1st, with interest, in cash. They have to use a part of it on American weapons and the rest they just get in cash.

I’m sure Sanders also has a bill or intentions to stop that, but that would be a separate bill.
