Summary

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Elon Musk a “leech on the public” in their ongoing feud, criticizing his role leading federal cuts.

Her comments responded to Musk’s Joe Rogan podcast appearance where he called Social Security “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time” and falsely claimed millions of dead people receive benefits.

AOC previously labeled Musk a “billionaire conman” after DOGE-led layoffs at the FDA’s medical devices division, questioning his expertise and suggesting government waste reduction should start with examining his Pentagon defense contracts.

I am deeply offended that Elon Musk showed up at the Whitehouse for the cabinet meeting not wearing a traditional suit and tie. How dare he disrespect the Whitehouse and this honorable presidency.

The United States of America is in collective shock specifically and souly at his attire! There is nothing I care more about than what kind of clothing that man wears when at only and specifically at the Whitehouse.

Tesla, Starlink, and SpaceX are all massive recipients of tax-payer dollars.

I can’t wait to see how much he’s going to cut their budgets!

AOC calling out Musk’s tax breaks while gutting programs is a rare moment of political honesty.

If you want to call someone a leech don’t leech on them yourself. Use mastodon.

Yes, use a niche platform where you can preach to the choir of 10 people, rather than the place where you might influence millions of views. Great suggestion!

She already has million of followers on meta and x, creating a mastodon account and move people there would be one of the best actions they could take

No one would notice if she posted on Mastodon, it’s just not big enough for news sources to check on regularly. This article literally wouldn’t exist.

Mastodon has plenty of users who would notice. The Millions of followers she has on x and meta would also learn of mastodon

Millions of followers she has on x and meta

The ones that wouldn’t see a post on Mastadon? Even if an article was made about a Masta post, which it wouldn’t be, only a small fraction of her X followers would see that article. Far less than the existing followers she already has.

Look, you’re being intentional obtuse but I understand way. I wish more people would use defederated platforms too, but that doesn’t chang Le the fact that a politician has am existing way of mass communication. Being mad at her for using it is at best, unproductive.

Not only she’s not using it she’s not even bothering creating an account. 5 minutes to create an account and they are not even bothering doing it, do your own conclusions.

I would never recommend Twitter to normal people, but she’s a politician, she has to go where the people are.

I would argue she should be encouraging people to use Mastodon, but the fact is most people currently on Fediverse either already agree with her positions or think she’s “lib controlled opposition.”

A politician is not a salesman.

There are no excuses to not even have a mastodon account. If you have million of followers encouraging them to move off centralized and proprietary social networks is one of the greatest actions you can take.

She is on Bluesky which is better than X by a country mile. Politicians have to go where users are because that’s how marketing works.

You are confusing politics with marketing

Having a bluesky account and not a mastodon one makes you even more sus

Politics is a game my friend and marketing your politics is part of it. Next time say ‘suspicious’ or I won’t take you seriously.
