Trump Took Away Adobe Acrobat and it took Me 45min to Combine Files Fed only Not that this matters but for anyone who thinks this is creating efficiency, Trump/Elmo took away my agencies Adobe acrobate away which means I can’t edit documents. So instead of being efficient and taking 5seconds to combine a pdf, I took 45min along with IT to combine files. That’s how I spend my time these days, trying to overcome the obstacles they put in place so I can do my job. For all this talk about government employees not doing work, I’m working double time just to keep up with what they are doing.

Fuck Trump but fuck Adobe too. There are free and open source alternatives, acrobat is a bloody scam.

Goddamnit, i wish people would understand that this is the entire point! They don’t want government employees to do their jobs, that’s why they’re firing all of them!
Our entire infantilized society is too dependent on authority to understand when that authority has turned on it and then has no conception of how to fight back against it except to do their jobs harder like for the love of any and all good things please pull your heads out of the fucking sand!
Why should the powers that be fight plastic pollution when it keeps people’s brains clogged, unable to conceive what’s going on around them, much less change it.

I mean, I typically use pdftk for stuff like that, but I get that’s not for everyone. Taking away a software licence without checking if anyone needs it is just crazy. Don’t they use it for redaction and stuff like that as well?
If they cared about efficiency, I’d still be employed at a company that decreased government department mean time to hire from 18 months to 6 weeks.
You can join PDFs in GIMP in a pinch.
Its not efficient but its possible…
Libreoffice draw can edit PDFs, and is polished the same as all the rest of the Libreoffice suite. It works pretty well in my experience.
What is wrong with pdfcat?
Nobody knows it exists, apparently.
(And even worse, people are too computer-illiterate to think “hey, maybe there’s a solution for my problem” and figure out how to go find it.)

Sometimes I don’t like using a CLI program, especially for something so visual like PDFs. If I don’t need to make any edits to a PDF and am only arranging it, I like to use a program called PDFarranger.
If I wanted a gui, I’d first check to see if there is an xpdfcat command.
NAPS2 will do it too, and quickly.
I have a cli command for it somewhere in my shell history

I have 100% used my iPad to combine PDFs in a pinch. I was in a bind and away from my desk. Turns out, iPads can combine PDFs directly from the file manager. Hate on Apple all you want, but that shit should come standard with every OS by this point.
Here to plug Stirling PDF as free and very nice to use to do anything like that. Had to use it cuz foxxit moved signatures to paid? Or forced to use an account idk. Annoying.
