Yeah, I think that’s one of the scariest things. Previous presidents have done a lot of terrible things, but there’s always been a basic rhetoric of morality- at oeast a pretence that official policy us “the right thing”.

The US’s latest bunch of clown have openly hateful and dishonest language, without any sense of shame. I don’t even think we’ve seen the beginning of the level of cruelty a country can achieve when it suddenly abandons any rule of law or accountability.

That’s what they taught me in school. It’s absolutely bullshit. This country was built on genocide to perpetrate slavery. It’s a warmongering nation that destroys other countries to ensure its own economic dominance on the world stage.

Trump and the Trump administration are behaving like assholes all over the world.
USA has never been so universally unpopular.

Flight passangers from Canada to USA are down 70%.
Tesla sales in Europe are down 50%.

The boycotts have begun, and numbers like these may be common for 2025.
Trump will cost many jobs in USA, and increased inflation, and it seems an economic downturn too.

Thinking about why the US is so keen on Greenland: It’s only relevant for them if they intend to make enemies out of the EU, because they already have all the access they need. But only as long as they are allied with Europe.

It’s clear where this is headed. Russia is not the only reason why Europe is rearming.

Which makes it extra stupid that Trump is demanding that he own Greenland for security reasons. The Americans can already expand their base there whenever they want.

Danish news today talked about Trump and his people maybe not being aware of this. They are sure that the US consulate on Greenland has informed them but they are not confident that the administration even knows this.

They are going to cut the map up ww2 style, US gets the americas with green land and China and Russia split the rest. Russia takes Europe, and China gets the pacific. All the rest will dissapear. They may find a middle east partner for that region, and then exploit Africa.

      The plan is easy:

      • USA take Canada, greenland and everything up to Panama for Security Reason.
      • Russia take back some part of Europe because they are talking Russian.
      • China take South Korea with North Korea and Taiwan because it’s China anyway…

why the US is so keen on Greenland

Testing the invasion waters with something most EUs will not want to risk their lives over, and then he doesn’t need to justify what he has on his airbase there.

Hardly. There are many ways to “cripple” the US without need to resort to a simple-minded military slugfest.

They could act to support Trump’s next reelection bid, for example. That’d be more devastating to American power than a nuke.

They’re on board with him. Invasions create job security for them. The military won’t care until they’re told to fire on Americans, and even then a large part won’t care, as long as they’re firing on the “wrong” kind of people.

There is no way this lunacy ends in a civil arrest.

If he actually orders an invasion of Greenland I’d put the odds at around 12%. My guess is around 60% the military will refuse to carry out the order (it would be after all in violation of the War Powers Resolution unless congress approves), then 80% chance Trump will back down. Of course that’s if he gives the order, my guess of that is around 30%, reducing the odds of a greenland-related coup to around 4%. In reality the most likely path is that once the military explains to Trump that they want congressional approval, he’ll lose interest and go on to scaring us some other way.

That depends. Has Russia started a land war across the entire Eastern front at the same time?

Then it might be a bit tough for Europe to do anything about Greenland. It’s almost like the whole ‘we need to take Canada’ rhetoric is pre-emptive, knowing Canada would be the most dangerous remaining opponent to such a plan, should Europe be busy… for some reason. Take Canada and Greenland at roughly the same time. Tie them down while Europe is busy. The US ends up owning Greenland. And, if things fall out wrong, Canada, too - though it might not be a primary goal.

From that point, Russia and the US divide Europe between them.

Is this an insane plan? Yep. Would it work? Doubtful. Is it the potential thinking of the fascist dickheads in charge, despite that? I suspect so.

Kind of the whole point of nuclear dissuasion is that we are not, in fact, going to ever do that. And ignoring the existence of nukes (lol), attacking the US on their hometurf is such a monumentally stupid idea people still wonder what went through the Japanese High Command’s mind 80 years ago.

Stop asking Europe for help, because you’re not getting it. You’ve alienated your allies and broken your democracy beyond repair. Either use that 2nd amendment of yours to the fullest extent of its spirit or STFU with the “pwease stop him we’re scawed :(((” rhetoric. We have way more reasons to be scared because we don’t live next door to white cishet male Americans to shield us from his madness. Stop with the victim blaming. If Trump was only an America problem, I would say the same thing you are saying.

I’m fine if the world attacks the US just enough so that Trump recedes to only the US.

What I am saying is that if Trump is making threats to the world, the world should take it seriously and deal with it now instead of letting him push boundaries without repercussions. His threats are going to just get bigger and hurt more people than when the threats are smaller.

The world needs to be on guard and protect itself.

You don’t mean this, do you? The EU attacking the military on which their individual armies depend, the greatest military of the largest economy on earth, would be incomprehensibly stupid. It’s utter fantasy, anyway. A dystopian fantasy that would involve more Europeans dying than Americans, that is if it wouldn’t devolve into nuclear war.

EDIT: not sure why I’m being downvoted for commenting on a fantasy of violence. I don’t think „please start World War III” is fun banter, sorry.
