So I was the pied piper on the weekend and took a troop of kids to see the Minecraft Movie. It was an experience.
The movie itself was pretty typical middle-aged kids’ fare. Fairly awful dialogue and cliched characters. Jason Moama was a surprise, I thought Jack Black was the only famous star in it. I have a feeling that in the right role, Jason would have some wonderful comedy chops. This movie was not it. Stiffler’s Mum was funny, but all I could see was Stiffler’s Mum. I think the two female leads were great and a good foil for the Jack Black/Jason Moama antics. Pity the girls didn’t really have a lot to do in the plot.

If I’d been watching it on Blu Ray or streaming, I might have turned it off. As a movie, it’s not great. However, watching it in a cinema on opening weekend in a room full of kids really made it wonderful. They were cheering at obvious fan-service references that I didn’t get. Screaming out at “Chucky Chicken!” and I can’t remember other bits. But you get the idea. The energy in the room was great.

So while I didn’t particularly love the movie, I loved the experience of watching it.

I loved seeing Uncharted at the movies, the audience had a great time and their joy was infectious. It was a fun movie for fans and I enjoyed it too. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. 🙂

I hated the Uncharted movie but probably because I have the background of playing all the games.

The casting of it was so badly wrong, Tom Holland was the wrong choice and the way the movie went didn’t appeal to me as it was a mishmash of the 4 Uncharted Games.

I know it probably sounds stupid, but I’m a bit devo.

One of the strays, the little calico hasn’t come to eat for the last 2 days and didn’t see her today either.

I’ve gotten a bit attached to these guys and I think I need to take a little step back emotionally.

    :(

I didn’t expect to get so attached tbh man. Tougher than I expected.

There was a dad and 2 kids about 2 weeks ago that came to see what I was doing and they said she looked exactly like their cat that ran away but they didn’t think it was her.

Hopefully they came and got her and she’s having a chill inside life now.

Know exactly what your going through.

I’ll bet thats whats happened. They took her to get the microchip and it WAS her. Or the dads gone “You know what, i “think” its her she needs to come inside”.

Can you maybe get a little camera to see if she’s around when you aren’t out there?

Or maybe ask around to see if they came and got her (if it’s safe to approach people)

Had to take today off due to migraine.

Annoyed but glad for the rest. In the past I would have either gone in, or freaked out all day because of moderate workaholism.

    Not this time.

Laptop is off and will stay off till tomorrow. Not stressed about what they’ll think.

    It is what it is.

Goodnight all! I have laundered and tidied, worked, shopped, cooked dinner, tidied up afterwards and am officially retreating to my room for the alone time my introverted soul needs. Will most likely pretend I’m going to buy a house and check out property listings before falling asleep. 🥱😴

Is it just me or are people super inconsiderate at the moment? Had people blowing smoke (vape or otherwise) whilst walking in front of me, people stopping to chat in tiny sections of supermarkets, people pushing to the front of the line, talking loudly on the phone (or even worse on speaker!), microwaving eggs in the office, singing in the office and acting like a session on the loo is year 9 drama club audition. Violence doesn’t solve anything but maybe we should make a gentle slap over the back of the head socially acceptable for when people are being a rude fuck.

Covid definitely upped the main character syndrome. Five years and a lot of people are still unwilling to let that go

tbf it could be pretty fucked before covid. Dylan Moran had a couple of idiot black books fangirls treating it like their own personal performance and chaser had a pair of dipshits who legit stood up mid performance and started singing “imagine there’s no chaser”

One more work day then a 2 week break.

Have the choice of going in super early but basically the sooner I finish the work I’ve been assigned and tidy up the office area then I’m done for the day and it’s not going to take me too long I reckon.

Also I managed to get a new ID tag and my old one deactivated with a super quick turnaround thanks to a friend now managing it all at work and they had a shift to cover over at my site so basically all it took was 4 hours for me to get a new ID Tag, this time with my photo and name on it and no cost to pay, yay!

Back in melbs. Silly bus replacement. Wasn’t as bad as expected but yea, 4 and a bit hours :(

I guess one good thing is there are far fewer people.

One thing that perplexes me is to get from geelong to wyndham vale station and vice versa by road, you have to meander through a shitload of back streets. Poorly thought out.

This time was paying very close attention to the synthetic lawns. EVERYWHERE! I’m really not sure why people do that (sorry to anyone here who has one). Just put some rocks down, few bigger feature rocks, maybe some cacti. Wouldn’t be any more work, cheap as but would look a shitload nicer.

The furry friend lived to see another day. However (!), the bottle was put outside apparently last night and the peanut butter was gone the next day.

There is something out there. I want to believe.

I’ve seen synthetic lawns all around here too

as someone who had wood tiles on a terrace and a neighbour who had fake lawn , don’t do it

it will collect dust and soil and plant particles and seeds brought in on the wind and when it rains it will turn to mud and sprout weeds

also, I second the call for furry room mate update 🙂

    Ha ha ha

Tech guy came to fix the stovetop, but he took one look at it and was like nope 😂 because the bench is stone (not wood), it has to be replaced with a same-size one. So he’s gonna give a quote to the RE for that lol

Rangehood is still jacked as well.

At least it was a quick appointment 😂

Gotta say this new backpack is amazing! I didn’t realize the last one was so uncomfortable till I started using this one. its weird walking around the city without feeling like somethings is poking you in the back and pushing down on your shoulders.

I was lucky, someone came today and the vet was able to squeeze Melbcat in during that time. Waiting on another culture and she’s getting some extra tlc.

Edit: The vet also suggested brushing her teeth. Uhh, wish me luck

Last chance to clean coats, pillows, blankets, doonas etc. before winter sets in. I’m aiming to do a search & destroy cleaning this weekend ready for Easter. Plus gardening if I still have the energy.

I’d be doing all of that if I had an outdoor drying space or an outdoor space at all. Might use the opportunity to instead do a cleanout of my languishing dried goods. Some ancient black lentils, red rice, other odds and ends that all need to be used up. I’m feeling ready to let go of a lot in the lead up to finishing this degree and moving out.

I’m OK with one final round of warmth, adjusting to the sudden cold with the early darkness at the same time has been a bit tough.
