Join the lemmy.ml boycott today! No more posts, comments or up votes on any comms on the lemmy.ml Instance!
Lmao!!! I made this post, that’s epic!!! Fuck that mod!
Damn, imagine if Dessalines spent half as much time developing Lemmy as he did censoring it.
This week, I pointed out that it’s astonishing levels of head-in-the-sand to claim that there’s no difference between Biden and Trump under a meme on lemmy.ml. It got me a 40 day ban.
Dessalines is pure scum.
They did it again
It’s wild af that the creator of Lemmy did it just so that his tankie bs couldn’t be censored. But he cannot stop anyone else from not being censored either.
Yeah, they claim to be ardent supporters of minorities, but when something bad is happening, to a country they don’t like, that will make life even more dangerous for them, they cheer it on. If its a country claiming communism they will look the other way too. They would be absolutely fine with getting their authoritarian, socialist, regime even if it meant the genocide of every vulnerable demographic of people they claim to support the rights of. It will simply be justified by the ends.
[Allegedly socialist country does one thing right] “CRITICAL SUPPORT!”
[Democrats do one thing wrong] “How dare you support those monsters.”
They’re just shuffling cards.
Yeah, I love when people think that a criticism of the camp they are in, is automatically a commendation of the camp they oppose. Another thing they have in common with MAGA, any criticism of Trump must mean you love Biden.
Tbf, when not on lemmy, any criticism of the dems gets people yelling “you like trump” at you as well. On lemmy it’s 50/50 if you criticize dems you’ll be called a tankie or conservative. This isn’t exclusive to MAGA, tankies, nor even the dems, most people regardless of their stance are becoming “with us or against us” now, and it’s getting worse.
well, can’t speak for you, but in my real life no one actually likes the democrats, they are just not as bad as the GOP. I haven’t met a single person who reacts this way to criticism of the democrats.
Isn’t that supposed to be a pretty left wing server?
That’s what they claim, they claim to be the only “true leftists” and everyone else are “liberals” and/or CIA agents
Realistically though, they float towards the right when it aligns with their authoritarian tendencies.
Also, don’t forget the “scratch a liberal” rule. Thus, if you contradict them enough that they call you a liberal, then you’re basically a fascist, you nazi!
If you go far enough left you become right wing again. Horseshoe theory is real and it’s proven time and time again.
The only real political spectrum that matters is normal sane people with a brain vs. the extremists.
The political compass isn’t perfect but it explains it a lot better. If you aren’t familiar, the axes are left-right and libertarian-authoritarian. Tankies are full authoritarians (as evidenced by the fact that they attack the definition of the word every time someone brings it up) so they align on a lot of auth-right beliefs while still being (ostensibly) on the left. Libleft is diametrically opposed to auth-right, so from that perspective, tankies are more closely aligned to auth right than to lib left.
This is much more accurate.
What are the axes on that graph?
There aren’t. It’s more like a tree kind of. You can get an infinite number of branches like the “right” and “tankie” one (for instance, there could be a branch that says “ancap” and another branch that says “terf”) sprouting from that same inflection point. The graph basically illustrates that there’s one way of being right but a million ways of being wrong — both morally and factually. Each branch is a different flavor of delusion, which requires its own fascism to forcefully maintain/impose.

Nice 6 hour account bud.
I’m an Anarchist I generally consider myself far left I wouldn’t consider myself rightwing or dictatorial. Although I generally agree with you
Holy enlightened centrism, Batman!
Braindead take tbh
They’re literally completely silent on republicans scandals…
These posts accurately describe Republicans as the monsters they are, but try to cover Democrats with honey and sunshine. Biden absolutely supports genocide. He has publicly stated that he’s a Zionist. Democrats in Congress voted with Republicans to keep giving Israel money and weapons. The student loans have not been forgiven. Democrats have never tried to give everyone healthcare; they’ve just given more tax money to health insurance scam corporations. Democrats are just controlled opposition for the GOP in a WWE cosplay fight to keep us from building guillotines for both parties.

So, the reason listed for removal of two of the comments was “Rule 2”.
That community has two rules listed:
- Be civil and nice.
- Try not to excessively repost, as a rule of thumb, wait at least 2 months to do it if you have to.
I would assume that dessalines dicked up on the citation for the “Rule 2” comments, and his real reason was actually rule 1, as both of those comments contained insults.
I do not use the [email protected] community, and generally speaking, I think that people are better off just downvoting incivility than having a moderator censor it, unless it actually turns into a flamewar that’s flooding the comments. However, I don’t think that it’s unreasonable to say that this was a violation of the community’s rules, or that the rules are outside the scope of what a lot of people would consider reasonable, and I don’t think that this is twisting the rules on ideological grounds or anything like that.
You could find the same sort of restrictions on places other than lemmy.ml or lemmygrad.ml. I can understand objecting to them, but I don’t think that that sort of thing is something specific to .ml.
Just to clarify, these are .ml admins performing the action and are not referencing comm rules, they’re referencing instance wide rules. Rule 1 (Bigotry) and Rule 2 (Be respectful) (Very rarely do you see an actual comm mod modding on .ml lol)
These 2 rules are known to be used as their “catch alls”, they use them interchangeably for any speech they don’t like (e.g. speech critical of Russia, China, NK) (See: Here Here and here for some examples) but will happily leave some really cringy stuff up so long as it aligns with their viewpoints.
Even when that speech they do like does actually cross some serious lines even for them, they’ll maybe give their fellow tankie a 24 hour ban where all non-Tankie get 14 or 30 day bans for not even offensive speech (And another example)
Here’s an admin basically saying rule 1 is for dealing with instances to stupid to see the “true path”
Okay, thanks for the instance rule clarification.
I still have a hard time getting terribly upset from the content shown on the post. Like, if someone were to write a bot that built a list of comments calling someone a “moron”, say, then build a list of which were removed and which not and who the target was, and one found that 90% of “moron” comments about, say, Putin were removed, but only 10% of comments about people as a whole, that would be a much more convincing argument for me buying that the rule was simply being used as justification for arbitrary removal.
But in this case, I think that it’s hard to say that the comments didn’t violate that instance rule. I mean, what it’s showing is that they have an instance rule and an instance admin removed content that appears to me to violate the rule. I would not personally, were I admining an instance, write such a rule. But I think that it’s very reasonable for there to be people out there who want to have such a rule, and are not trying to use it surreptitiously to push tankie stuff. Beehaw.org has a similar rule (“be nice”), for example. This isn’t to say that dessalines or other instance admins don’t abuse the rule in the way that you mention, and if they do, I can understand objecting to that…but I don’t think that the submitted screenshots demonstrate that.
EDIT: And just to be clear, this also isn’t to argue that lemmy.ml doesn’t have objectionable admin or moderation activity. I avoid lemmy.ml communities myself.
Op, if you’re going to create trouble for trouble sakes, just create your own instance.
Every alternate account you made, didn’t follow basic instance rules made for good faith arguments.
I follow basic internet etiquette when engaging even with bad faith people as the ghoulish Republican US party, that genocides people. I believe you can do much better, so I’m routing for you!🤞😎👍
I actually think I know what you’re talking about, yea I’ve been having a bit of an imposter problem, if it’s not like this one or my .cafe one its not me.
Especially if they have something about Atari Basic or w/e on their profile page
Some have been squashed by admins
This is one of the many reasons why I like to make many alts.
Another one apparently being that you can maintain power through an alt after mod abuse gets your other account demoted.
Here’s the context for just one of the things you did as Beaver. You should be held accountable for your actions.
