We had a storm tear off a lot of branches from the old maples in our yard. I took the larger stuff and sliced it up for our fire pit. There’s something satisfying about a nice stack of wood.
Looks great. You may want to throw a pallet or something under the bottom so that the branches and logs don’t touch the ground and rot while you’re seasoning them. (Sorry to suggest you unpile the pile.)

It takes minimal effort, cheap materials, and is quite strong. I’ve had my woodpile on one I put together for a few years. Once I had put the angled 2x4s into the cinder blocks, I also filled the remaining space inside the block with pea gravel to keep them from wiggling around.

Edit: If needed, I’m pretty sure they’ll cut the 2x4s to your requested length, at least at Lowe’s.
That’s fantastic, thank you. I need less projects in my life at the moment, but that’s a great idea for future log pile organization.
What I do is, I leave some lengts of the trunks in one piece, usually right before it turns too thin anyway and just put two of those beneath my firewood piles. Works just as well, especially if you’re stacking somewhere in the forest where you’d have to cart pallets there from miles away.

Be advised that snakes and spiders love to hang out in Wood piles like that. Always be cautious when you’re unstacking.
