Yeah, I could legit use one for sure. Using a plastic bin for chicken feed storage currently, but I’d prefer a vertical option. A good wooden barrel will last decades with no issues at all on a porch like ours. And not get thrown around when empty and a giant numpty of a rooster slams into it because he’s a giant numpty that can’t be bothered to watch where he’s going.

Also, the giant numpty could stand on it while demanding biscuits and/or pats.

If it’s within the EU and you’re offering, I will come pick it up in person sometime this summer

Yes, I own a full sized (200 liter / 53 gallon) ex-whiskey barrel that I repurposed into a rain water butt (shut the fuck up).

I bought it off of a local buy-and-sell website for I think €60 and bought a kit to channel rain water from my downspout into it. I then installed a brass spout on the side near the bottom as a tap. I can fill a watering can and water my raised bed plants with it even in droughts when watering plants with the hose is forbidden

barrel ownership must be nationalised to prevent anyone avoiding their turn in it

The metal barrel might be more suited for acids depending on what metal it is. Plus bare metal is naturally anti microbial which will help avoid some possible risks with handling corpses

But I suppose if you’re going to leave the body in the it and waste the whole perfectly good barrel on a corpse, the plastic is likely a cheaper option

If I found a nice looking one for free I’d take it and use it as a table, I don’t think I’d pay much for one though

I’d like one, don’t really have a lot of space for it though. It’s not really a high life priority for me.
