    Is doxxing not a crime?

If the judge tells you that you are not to divulge information about the court’s employees or those on the staff of your adversary. And then you retweet the address of your adversary’s boss. It definitely can be.

But when technically it wasn’t divulged by you exactly, and technically it wasn’t a staffer. Maybe all you get out of it is postponing the final judgement. Let’s see what happens. I wouldn’t put money on seeing Trump in a jumpsuit matching his skin color anytime soon.

    • I don’t think it is most of the time. Typically it’s publicly available information. I’m not even sure this counts as doxxing, despite what the headline says.

Doxxing classically meant “here is this person online who is anonymous or otherwise obscures their identity, and here is all this info about who they really are.” IMO we use the term too broadly these days.

If all they revealed here was her street address - anyone could have got that with a google search, I would think.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s one more example of Trump wink winking at the camera as stochastic terrorism is on the rise for sure, and maybe it was in violation of the gag order, but I doubt it’s a criminal act.

I wouldn’t be part of any club that would except me.
