Probably because TV revivals are easy to pitch and pull good numbers from nostalgia viewers on their opening seasons but almost always suck

Because they want them to be something they arent in a new age.

The new frasier is exactly like the old one, some new characters and dynamics but its the same middle of the road, mild chuckle humor. Which just doesnt generate the views the originals did pre-streaming. Its broadly appealing family friendly viewing in an age where everyone in the house has a device to watch whatever they want. Why would I settle for solid but mediocre when I have access to literally everything?

Its not worse than the original, its just not better.

I do think it’s a bit more… generic on the nose Frasier humor, I guess? Which you’d think would be the same as the original show but it just feels a bit more, I don’t know fake?

No Niles so far, so theres no snide sniping at each other. Also no John Mahoney (Frasiers Dad) who did a decent amount of the heavy lifting when it came to making the series feel grounded.

The first few episodes of frasier felt pretty stilted and stiff too. I’m giving it a chance. I have a 3yo in the house who is just hoovering up language so broadly inoffensive is a good thing at the moment.

David Hyde Pearce has confirmed that he won’t be coming back for the revival as he feels he did everything he could/wanted to with the Niles character in the first run of the show.

I feel this is a bit unfair to the original Fraiser. It was a rare bird being a sitcom that based on classical French farce, and repeated the formula successfully many times over its original run.

Dont get me wrong, I like Frasier as a show. It set out to do something and it did that something very well, but it was a sitcom on a major network in a very PG timeslot.

The only revival I would be interested in is The Drew Carey Show and that’s only because I think the odds are good that Drew Carey would do something wild and zany with it, even by the original series’ standards.

A good chunk of the shows that they mentioned haven’t even been cancelled yet. Who writes this garbage?

I haven’t bothered with any of them, since there isn’t a show that could come back that I’d want to see, even my favorites. Like, if they ever revive friends, I truly hope there’s riots.
