The struggle of being an adult.
Can finally afford the games, but no time to play them
I hate that. I love new games but never fully play the old ones.
I am thoroughly whelmed.
Dredge. Should be a perfect Deck on the sofa after work kinda game.
It is!
I was a little skeptical given the darker parts of the game. However, it truly wasn’t an issue and I adapted to how the game worked. Now I just glide through the water and do my fishing and dredging. Such relaxation.
Probably buying Cult of the Lamb. Waiting to get my OLED Deck first though, still only at “packaged”. :/
My spouse loves that game, super cute art style and creative concept.
I got that game for ps form my local library and fell in love, will definitely be buying it.
I’m not thrilled by that developer, “unity is terrible, I’m de-listing my game on new years day” is now “that was a joke tweet”. I never had a problem with unity trying to monotize their problem, but the knee jerk reaction from the gaming community was reactionary and showed immaturity, that some developers (cult of the Lamb included) jumped onboard, and now are trying to play the “it was a joke” card, is pathetic and has made me decide to remove their product from my wish list, when I should be buying it. (Discovered this today when checking out the discussion board, apparently they’re planning dlc which has been delayed to next year, which is aftwr they were supposed to be de-listing)
I mean, it was also reactionary by Unity and they’ve since walked back their executable fee plan for legacy applications. If that didn’t happen I have no doubt Cult would have been pulled, because what indie can afford to pay PER INSTALL?
I fully blame unity for the debacle and fall out, and don’t think it’s right to blame devs for backtracking after unity put new conditions on the table.
Their Twitter page also clarified literally the next day that it wasn’t a serious tweet, and they weren’t expecting the media to run with it like they did.

Even if they did delist it, though, I fully understand. They sold over 1 million copies in their first week or something? They would behave been overwhelmingly affected by this pay-per-install issue.
Sure, but I don’t appreciate childish antics by devs, apparently for the sole purpose of catching a hype wave.
I’ve written them off and will not be purchasing their game, as every time there’s a slight inconvenience it seems they’ll throw their hands up and threaten to stop developing their game. It’s not the industry they should be in imo. (See also fez)
The industry backlash wasn’t about any hype wave. My game is nowhere near marketable yet, but I internally switched to using godot despite how much work I have to repeat because unity has declared hostile intent towards indie games. Even if they walked it back the threat of their whims is still there.
Not just the threat, unity clearly stated they are still moving forward with their plans, the fee just won’t apply retroactively. Of course, this is how it should have been from the initial announcement, but too little too late - it is the right decision to not use their tools for your future project.
Just bought Lil Gator Game, Just finished Lil Gator Game.
Was moved to tears multiple times.
In all seriousness, I recommend it as fuck. And it plays amazing on the deck too.
That game looks a bit like “a short hike” thanks for the tip, bought it
It is! I loved both, you’re in for a treat!
I just got Tunic and Unpacking on sale.
You’re in for a treat with Tunic.
I found the intro to be really obtuse but dang if pushing through didn’t pay off. That game is great.
I really enjoyed it though I found some of the later puzzles to be so obscure and difficult that I ended up looking up a lot of answers.
Unpacking is so soothing.
I just got a 2nd hand Oculus Rift S for cheap, so I’m gonne take a look at the VR offers, as this is my first VR experience.
Half life Alyx is sitting at $20 right now just a friendly heads up
Thanks! I already bought that one. Jeez it’s immersive!
Get the mods for Half Life 2 + episodes as well. It’s almost as advanced as Alyx but with more challenge, which you may want after you get a handle on Alyx (and you get back the crowbar).
If you’re a gun enthusiast or just would like to mess around with some of the most detailed weapons VR has to offer, I strongly recommend trying out H3VR (Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades is the full name I believe). Yes, it has never been on sale since it came out, but it’s 100% worth the 20 bucks they’re asking for. There’s also an awesome multi-player mod for it called H3MP, as well as heaps of other content mods.
Beat Saber & VTOL VR are my recommendations for VR games that can be more then a 30min ExpErIEncE.
You didn’t ask, I know… :-)
It’s appreciated anyway! Put beat saber on my wishlist!
I wholeheartedly recommend Synth Riders if you’re into rhythm games!
Skyrim VR is on sale, you NEEEEEEEEEEEEED to mod it to make it playable (it’s a dogshit port). I tried pirating it but the mods required to make it a good VR experience only work with a different version
Check out VRchat. It’s free and frankly what meta is trying to build…but it’s already here
I am eyeing Dave the Diver and The Forgotten City. I am just waiting to get my OLED Deck and start playing them.
I don’t really need any new game as I have a substantial backlog and hopefully with the Deck I will start to clear it.
I am already looking forward to the holidays.
I went into The Forgotten City completely blind and found it to be very compelling and creative experience that I didn’t want to stop playing. I hope you enjoy it if you decide to buy it!
Dave the diver is a blast. The premise is simple and fun but it’s constantly evolving and building on what’s there with a charming cast of characters and events. Id highly recommend it.
Do not buy Dave the Diver as it is published by Nexon.
What’s wrong with that?
Some quick searches suggest Nexon having a pretty poor reputation on account of aggressive micro transactions/loot boxes. That is pretty shitty behavior for sure.
I wonder if purchasing a game like DtD, a game without such poison, is helpful to send a message that people like games without these predatory tactics.
Who am I kidding? It wouldn’t change anything.
Got a bunch of Pinball FX tables.
I just got a Steam Deck and will be using it as a console with my wife & kids - in that light I’ve bought a lot of smaller co-op and local multiplayer games:
- Stick Fight: The Game
- Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure
- Moving Out
- Broforce
- Cook, Serve, Delicious
- Portal 2
- Rubber Bandits
- HOT WHEELS UNLEASHED
- Horizon Chase Turbo
- Ultimate Chicken Horse
- Human Fall Flat
- CarX Drift Racing Online
- Nidhogg
- Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection
We’ll see what else we’ll go for, but that should help us get started :)
I recommend giving Plate Up a look!
Toybox turbo is a easy recommend. Short games with a fun mp mode
Black Mesa, The Master Chief collection, Ori bundle and Sonic Superstars. 70€ ;_; (because that fucking new Sonic game is too expensive, even on 30% sale)
I highly recommend Death Must Die. It is early access, as a fair warning. But it successfully mixes up Hades with Vampire Survivors and a few others. Runs great on Deck as well. The dialog can be cringe and the story is clearly under development. But if you want a fun gameplay loop–this is the game.
I got RDR2 to play on my deck, already played it a few years ago on PS5 but I’ve been wanting to play it again.
Monster Hunter Rise + DLC for me and qt gf. 60% off and runs like a dream! 60 fps with default settings.
Is the coop system in monster hunter rise like it is in monster hunter world? Bc me and my so both enjoyed the game but the coop for world was so strange. Almost not even coop
Trying to keep it tame this time as Monster Hunter Rise has me plenty busy. Got Forza Horizon 4 and may come back for an Aeon’s End expansion later.
