There is nobody more confidently incorrect about geopolitics and sociology than a tankie. They openly admit that their political methodology is to literally kill everyone who disagrees with them, and they believe that this will somehow form the basis of a stable and productive worker’s state.
It’s quite disgusting tbh. They know they’ve already lost in the marketplace of idea and done even try to hide it.
Tankies see the US as the ultimate capital “E” Evil, and any country that stands against Evil, by definition, must be good. And if that “good” is conducting ethnic cleansings and murders anyone who goes against the state, well the tankies can just ignore that because it’s done in the name of opposing the ultimate capital “E” Evil.
The sad truth is that the US is evil, but not quite as evil as the tankies want to believe, and China is evil, having fallen to authoritarianism which renders true communism impossible. Hell, China is just as capitalistic as the US these days. It’s just that they have a dictator who can kill anyone in the country at any time, including billionaires who don’t play ball. Chinese citizens have zero protections from their government. Quite the opposite really.
With all that said, the Chinese government has likely done less damage in the world than the US government. If only because the US had such a massive head start. But they are playing catch up.
But yeah, tankies wanting to just murder their way into getting everyone to think like they do. It’s the reason why they’re called tankies in the first place. The soviets murdered a bunch of Hungarian communists because they didn’t want to be a soviet buffer state, they wanted to be a Hungarian communist nation, free and open. The soviets sent in tanks to kill them all.
Tankies are the first in line to kill non-Tankie leftists. They attack us even before the Nazis do. You can’t compromise with either, because both just want power for themselves at the cost of your freedom/life.
Yeah at this point I’m convinced that if the US had a communist revolution and gave half of its land back tankies would still support capitalist Russia over it in international conflicts.
Like I don’t hate well run state socialism. The good guys won in Vietnam. The medium guys won in 1917. Etc. But I also acknowledge that painting yourself red doesn’t make you communist and being communist doesn’t make you good. There were multiple armed conflicts between communist nations in the 20th century for good reason. Bad people in power can destroy a country built on ideals.
So yeah I’m a filthy “liberal” (syndicalist) who just dares to want the means of production in the hands of the workers. And I know who turned around and shot those who seized them in Spain when they didn’t let a foreign government control them.
I’m anti-tankie. Not because I’m a neo-liberal (I’m not), but because I hate their work moralization, which usually just results throwing “not real” workers (engineers, baristas, etc.) under the bus, just to try to appeal to self-employed construction workers. Also they nationalized worker coops in my country, then turned them into state-controlled entities, all while keeping the “coop” in their titles, thus making it synonimous with “state-controlled entity”.
