minus-squarevatniksplatnik@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up26·7 months agoGun can miss. The ground doesnt.

minus-squarehydroptic@sopuli.xyzlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·7 months agoWeeeellll, orbits do decay. Orbiting is essentially just trying to hit the ground and missing by a little less on each successive orbit
minus-squareHappycamperNZ@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·7 months agoI’d argue that means the ground is constantly missing, but gets lucky once.
minus-squareHappycamperNZ@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·7 months agoVortex ring can be escaped by speeding up, The gun still tracks you
minus-squareJohnDClaylinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6arrow-down1·7 months agoDon’t think so, if you increase thrust, you increase your downward force since it reenforces the vortex. You need to try to lurch forward out of the ring.
minus-squareHappycamperNZ@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·7 months agoYes, speeding up (above 60kt i believe), not speeding upwards. Increasing torque doesn’t help because it doesn’t change the conditions of what caused it. Tbh im just happy they aren’t calling it settling with power, which to me is just CFIT.
