I’m tired of seeing an equal amount of bitching about current meme trends as I see the current meme trends, personally. Especially when the complaints are coming after less than 24 hours of a trend forming.

Shitposting was more entertaining when each post was different, not whatever circle jerk.

Don’t get me wrong, I have been laughing at some of the Taylor Swift and Jeans ones - but I haven’t been going directly to c/shitposting because when most every joke is the same its a lot less entertaining because you already know the punchline.

it’s sorta entertaining but it gets really boring when there’s people spamming low effort ai images

I mean the difference is getting banned in 196 for mildly deviating from their approved perspective

i disagree with therealjcdenton but you’re missing the point.

they’re saying that 196 “infected” the previously good other communities on Lemmy, so them blocking 196 itself doesn’t do much, and they’re losing out on content if they block the"infected" communities as well.

This is a natural downside of the fediverse. I’m sure there are hexbear folks who just made a new account somewhere and are in all our feeds again. Nothing to do about that

Reddit and similar had the same issue but in general account hopping was less normal

at least they now can’t identify each other and troll the rest of us as easily anymore

In the beginning after the blackout, 196 was one of the biggest Lemmy communities. It definitely helped driving the switch
