“We came to visit Russia as tourists for the New Year on December 27 and met an agent who helped us visit different places. He offered to take us to Belarus, but we were not aware we would need a visa for the country. We went to Belarus where we gave money to him, but he demanded more money. He abandoned us on a highway as we didn’t have the money to pay him,” one of the men can be heard saying in Hindi in the video.

“We were then caught by the police who handed us over to the Russian army.

We came to visit Russia as tourists

Boy, my sympathy went to 0 pretty damn fast. Might as well have said they went to Nazi Germany as tourists.

That’s utterly vile, especially considering that India fought against the Nazis during WWII. I can’t imagine being one of the soldiers that came back alive and seeing that shit in my own country.

Don’t forget they fought against Nazi Germany because Britain owned them and forced them too.

Frankly I assume they’d have rather sat the whole thing out and as such I doubt they really cared all too much about a European conflict.

During the Second World War (1939–1945), India was a part of the British Empire. British India officially declared war on Nazi Germany

Sure is a lot of Britain in there. Almost like India had no say in the matter🤔

How much of the world war was European colonial powers forcing natives of the lands they had invaded to fight their battles for them? Like I said it was a European war, just because every battlefield wasn’t in Europe doesn’t change that.

They’re rolling in their graves seeing how India dehumanizes and treats Muslims. It’s a slow rolling genocide that doesn’t get much attention.

I don’t know if media coverage and public awareness about the atrocities are high enough in India to make that judgement.

The argument is basically “they’ve never done anything to us, so we’re good”. But yeah the cheap stuff must help.

Weird how you just moved the goalposts from “Russia is a bad nation” to “it’s only bad because it’s in active war.”

You will never acknowledge how you’re a victim of propaganda, indoctrination, and tribalism.

Got any links to news stories about tourists in Ukraine getting forced into fighting for them.

          Take your time. I’ll wait.

Or how about Ukraine intentionally targeting missiles at apartment buildings and purely civilian infrastructure with no military value just to murder and terrorize people just trying to live their lives.

If there’s anyone here that’s a victim of propaganda and indoctrination, you’ll find them in the mirror.

I mean even though the Russian state is utterly corrupt, this recruiting vector seems way to convoluted to be practical.

It might also be that they did volunteer, but made up this story in order to seem the victim.

From another comment in here it sounds like someone scammed them into going to Belarus where they didn’t have authorization to be and were arrested as criminals and criminals can be conscripts.

Doesn’t seem like the Russian government is doing this intentionally as much as they’re looking the other way since it benefits them. I wouldn’t be surprised if the scammer gets a kickback from whomever in the police is benefiting from sending the army conscripts.
