Goddammit. I’m having flashbacks to the 2020 primaries.

Fuck the low level of civic education in this fucking country.

[gently blows the dust off my ‘Bernie’ sticker]

He’s the face of why ya gotta vote. All the DNC trickery in the world woulda meant nothing if y’all turned out on primary day with the same energy y’all spend on cursing everyone else for doing it and not voting for him.

He coulda won, by a landslide, and he didn’t because he deserved better than his own supporters.

The progressive paradox. Progressive ideas and politicians are soooo popular but there’s always a reason they lost and it’s never because progressives don’t turn out.

In many states we did. He took more of Virgina and West Virginia than Hillary did, and their delegates still voted for Hilary at the DNC national convention. This happened in a ton of states before California, the only state that the DNC electors “officially” gave to Bernie, even had their primary. It was so bad that almost 50% of the lifelong Californian Democrats left the party for NPP registration, which is better in California, in my opinion, since No Party Preference allows one to vote in all the primaries, as well as the general.

That bullshit “vote” was, and probably still is, rigged. They won’t let us vote for AOC if she ever runs for president. We need to destroy every political party and force candidates to run on policy and ideals.

Washington understood that direct democratic communism was the best method of choosing leaders, and laws, well before either concept was even available.

See you say all that but when you look at the actual documented results it shows that Bernie got blown out in the popular vote and was actually unduly benefited by the delegate system proportional to how many people actually voted for him.

Stop making excuses, he lost because millenials and zoomers can’t be assed to even turn out at their share of the national population, let alone the easy dominating share they could take within the democratic party.

There were like 30 million ballots cast max in the 2016 primary, that is fucking nothing. The fact that Bernie didn’t landslide with as few as 15 million votes for his opponent is down to the fact that his supporters are loud obnoxious do nothings who have to be dragged by their hair and locked in the booth with no internet connection to even begin considering casting the fucking ballot.

Fuck wanting to vote for someone, fuck wanting to be inspired, fuck your prayers for the rapture revolution to come and solve everything for you. Do your duty to those who genuinely cannot protect themselves and cast that boring milquetoast ballot while we fucking have them for you to bitch and moan about it not being exciting enough.

America’s most vulnerable can’t afford for you to shirk your responsibility because the party’s manager didn’t deliver enough pizzazz and pandering to your karen ass self.

The issue wasn’t that people didn’t show up. There was record turnout for a primary race. The issue was concerns about electability. The talking heads kept repeating incessantly that Biden had the better shot at beating Trump. It was complete bullshit based off polls, but people believed it. Beating Trump was the top priority with policy taking a back seat. The position we are in now is the universe’s sense of irony.

The thing that fucks American elections isn’t our abysmal turnout. It’s the complete lack of civic involvement between elections that makes voters easily malleable by expensive ad campaigns.

The progressive flank in this country could have anything it wants, but what it needs most today is a plan. Too many of us have fallen victim to the rapturous thinking that one day something will snap, be the straw that broke the camel’s back be the point of no return for the depravity of the right, and revolution will come to even the deepest red rural corners of this land made for you and me.

It’s the same as the western misconception of Karma. Karma isn’t “what goes around comes around” it’s a caution that behaving selfishly destroys the world around you and causes others to do the same in ways that will ultimately negatively impact you too. Karma isn’t the assurance that one day they’ll get theirs, it’s the fact that justice will not come unless you break the cycle and project justice into your world.

We need organization, actual, coordinated accountable, organization. We need national cooperation, and we need effort down to the individual.

Most importantly, we need our own manifesto. The Republicans have Project 2025, they have a plan, this plan can be put to action at any time provided they get the white house, they have something they get to take to the public and sell as what they plan to do.

We need A Project for All. A coalescence of every idea we single issue over, and quite a few that we haven’t even thought of yet as a political community into a coordinated policy package that we can sell as what exactly we plan to do.

We need to give a solid plan of what Joe Detroit can expect of the transition period from the current medical system to M4A. We need to be able to tell Margaret from Georgia exactly how she benefits from cracking the supreme court into a sortitionate office that randomly selects its jurors from the pool of all federal judges, and we gotta let Pennsylvania hear how they stand to gain from a world where lawyer and legal fees are not passed to the litigants and instead covered by the state.

It’s just religious thinking from people who were driven away from the church. They still think the same way. They’re just on a different side now. They don’t care about plans or processes or how to achieve their goals. They only care about martyrdom and salvation from the heavens.

All of the people who have worked so fervently to suppress and brigade any person who dare say that Biden is unfit for office and that the Democrats need to produce an alternative.

Now the DNC has a shocked pikachu face that he is unfit for office and they need to produce an alternative.

If only we didn’t have Blue MAGA boot lickers muddying the water for the past 3 years, we had already gone about the process, and this debate featured someone who was fit for the office.

Trump literally shit his pants on stage (there was a point when his microphone was on where you audibly hear him fill his pamper) while doing nothing but lying and dropping buzz words and Biden STILL resoundingly lost the debate.

Somehow found a way to top Boat-Shark-Electricity with Abortion-Civil Rights-Immigrant murderer.

Hearing “Trump is a threat to democracy” from Democrat leadership has started to make me seethe. They think it’s a one-way responsibility: we the voters are obligated to show up to vote for whoever they put in front of us, but they feel no responsibility to switch to a better candidate.

        Answered the questions correctly?

I can hardly even make out words.

What I could pick out, translated to (as) coherent (as possible) English:

“A young woman who just was murdered, and he went to the funeral, and the idea she was murdered by an immigrant coming in, they talk about that. Here’s the deal, there’s a lot of young women being raped by their in-laws, by their spouses, brothers and sisters. I, wah, jus, jusjusjus ridiculous. You can do nothing about it. And they try to arrest them when they go across state lines.”

In what world do you live in where that is “correctly answering” a question about abortion?

You really need to stop sabotaging the Democrat party with your Blue MAGA horse-shit.

Twice you, a person who has been demonstrably Blue MAGA in this conversation, have called me, a disenfranchised Independent former Democrat who plans on voting for Jill Stein unless the DNC can produce a viable candidate, a MAGA.

You have literally described Biden as an old invalid potato and you still shill him.

                Get a clue dude.

“He is strong on the economy, Bidenomics work.” Noone can afford a house, increasingly people cant afford food, CEO salaries and corporation profit margins are at an all time high though.

“He has benefited the US domestically.” Is this in reference to the US infrastructure? So he fixed the water in Flint issue, right? Oh… he didnt do anything. Well at least he has taken action on the spread of PFAS… oh, he hasnt dont anything about that. Well, at least our roads and bridges are in good working order… oh, no, they are crumbling and collapsing at a consistent rate.

“He has benefited the US abroad.” He has turned America into the criminal baddies on a global scale. He has provided unfettered support, rhetorically and fiscally, to an WJC indited war criminal, and has threatened the WJC in defense of the war criminal. He has turned most of the world against the US.

“dumps is a rapist and literally a traitor.” 100% agree. That is why we NEED someone who will be able to beat him at general, and Biden will not do that. Biden will not be president in 2025. I guarantee it.

The delivery was bad but it makes sense: A woman was murdered by an immigrant, he (Trump) went to the funeral and tries to demagogue it. Meanwhile Republicans are passing laws to criminalize abortion and prosecute women who try to travel to other states after they’re raped by people they know. So Trump and his party don’t give a shit about prosecuting rapes or protecting women, they just want to demonize immigrants and control women’s bodies.

Edit: You also left out the preceding lines where he talks about Georgia and other states legislating a six-week abortion ban, which sets up the point more clearly.

You can do the same thing to try to save Trump’s Boat-Electricity-Shark flub, which was SOMEHOW more coherent than what came out of Biden’s mouth.

We need to stop encouraging the Dems to advance a man who will SOMEHOW lose to Trump.

We need to pounce and, open our ears, and get the currently roughly 47% of Americans who are saying simply “anyone else” attention again, because the way its going, Trump is going to get roughly 30 % of the vote, Biden is going to get roughly 20-25% of the vote, and remaining 47% is voting RFK, Jill Stein, or they just aren’t showing up.

Biden is a losing horse, and this isn’t Sea-biscuit.

You are entitled to your opinion but a large majority of voters disagree with you. So it’s a problem regardless of how you perceived it.

That large majority of voters already disagreed with me before the debate, so the point is moot.

I don’t care what people who can’t think critically are thinking.

It’s like being upset with a child.

Speak for yourself, don’t pretend you’re speaking for anyone else.

Well these are the people who decide the outcome of the election so I still care what they think even if they lack critical thinking skills.

The debate really doesn’t have any impact on my vote because voting for Trump is unthinkable for people who actually understand the issues.

But I think it does give us information about how well prepared Biden is to oppose him. And I came away feeling that he is very unprepared for the task. So in that sense, I agree that he lost.

That’s quite a hunk of cynical gymnastic rationalization.

Anybody who is swayed by a presidential debate of this caliber is chaff.

They’re the same type of people shouting for the T-shirt cannon to notice them.

You can’t stop that, and it doesn’t matter how they process information.

You caring about them doesn’t change anything, they want to be tricked.

Biden is well equipped to oppose Trump.

His policies have been and are incredibly beneficial for the United States and other countries, while dumps is consistently incredibly harmful and insulting domestically and abroad.

Biden has at least as much money in the campaign, he has a much better track record, more Americans agree with his policy statistically, and he doesn’t constantly lie and hasn’t been lying for almost a decade to the point that even the people on his side are tired of it and calling him out as they are with trump.

Biden doesn’t have the election in the bag, but he’s more than equipped to oppose the human equivalent of a twitter sock puppet.

You’re calling me cynical while referring to two thirds of Americans as insane and chaff? Feel free to dwell in your own fantasy world where Biden is cruising to reelection but please stay out of the way as the rest of us try to figure out a way to save our country from fascism.

Now the DNC has a shocked pikachu face that he is unfit for office and they need to produce an alternative.

If only we had some kind of “pre election” where members of the party got to hear from potential candidates and their positions so the party can be sure they’re putting forth the best possible candidate…

      Edit:

      Maybe call it: The Primary?

        Bernie/Ro Khanna can still happen.

Either one of them in the President slot, either one of them in the VP slot.

        They will win all day.

I mean, look. I was on both of Bernie’s campaigns. I put in thousands of calls for the guy. But brother, Its a pipe dream. Bernie polls 20-25 points ahead of both Trump and Biden. It wouldn’t be a W, it would be a Blue version of this map. Bernie would CRUSH Trump.

But its not going to happen. The DNC would rather lose to Trump than ever consider a genuine socialist. I would LOVE to be wrong on this, but its not going to happen.

Honestly, we could probably get Katie Porter through the wickets. We could probably get Gretchen Witmer through. I think we could get Inslee in. I’d put each of these at less that 20% stand alone probability.

Honestly, the best bet, the one I think has both the highest probability of getting the nom, and can actually win:

          Andy Beshear

He’s a somewhat progressive southern > two term < Democratic governor.

He’s won Kentucky. Twice. Hes “a bit” progressive, but not a Bernie or a Ro Khanna.

You know who else was a two term, southern, slightly progressive governor?

          Bill Clinton.

I’ll bet Bernie with my heart. I bet its going to be Andy Beshear with my wallet.

I love all the Bernie bros coming out and implying that the solution to the We Have No One But Octogenerians To Vote For Problem would be another octogenarian.

Surely there’s someone under the age of 80 who’s qualified to be president.

I still can’t get his office to comment about anti-genocide protesters that were arrested in his office back in november. fuck him *edit - if you’re only responses to downvote without actually talking about it, you’re part of the fucking problem. I have receipts so you’d better know what the fuck you’re talking about

Why the hell would anti-genocide protesters be protesting Bernie Sanders, the rare jewish voice that has condemned Israel’s war? It goes to show how the biggest unwitting enablers of Israel getting continued support from the US are these edgelord protesters. All they did was piss people off.

It’s time for everyone on the left to be clear-eyed. Just try to be convincing. That’s the only thing we gotta do differently if we wanna end poverty, war, and live in a literal utopia. Just try being convincing and picking the right hills to die on and not being willfully blind of weak spots, just once.

this was november. Bernie Sanders didn’t call for a goddamn ceasefire until December 13

he was in Vermont when the arrests occurred, and I was trying to find out if he was aware of their presence before the arrest, if he’d been involved in the chain that had them arrested, and if he had done anything to help them after they’d been arrested. I’m not sitting here demanding he do anything, I just want to know yes or no to each of those questions and I don’t think that’s unreasonable for an elected official.

Those weren’t anti-genicide protesters. I don’t know where the fuck you got that from. If anything they were people perfectly okay with a Ukrainian genocide. Their goal was to get the United States to stop helping Ukraine. Their goal was to let Russia brutalize and destroy the Ukrainian people.

No he waited all the way until it was undeniability a genocide before saying anything. This crisis has been brewing for decades.
