That top one is the reason I can’t watch soccer. What a lame thing to watch a professional athlete do.

isn’t really a Republic at that point is it.

i know the meme, but he did eventually transition fully over to a galactic empire.

Eventually, though the transition was gradual. We are watching the transition happen live in front of our eyes with Donald Trump, who already preemptively has the legal ability to assassinate his political rivals if he were to so choose. However, he did “not” actually overthrow the government - do you see the difference? Yeah, I’m not sure I do either, but some people claim to, so there’s that, and somehow that seems to make all the difference in the world, in terms of people not wanting to fight back.

Tell me, you’ve never watched an entire match without telling me, you’ve never watched an entire match.

I think all football players should be forced to second in rugby. That’ll stop them rolling around in mock agony from tripping over a blade of grass.

There’s way too much bullshit flopping, but sometimes it’s the only way to get the ref’s attention when an opposing player makes a shitty move that doesn’t hurt but is definitely against the rules.

Or sometimes they just never get touched but are magically thrown to the ground with a broken leg which also magically heals seconds later.

Maybe they should fix the way refereeing works then. It’s not like the rules were written by Jesus or something.

I see you’ve never heard of FIFA. Lucky bastard. I’m paraphrasing, but Sepp Blatter said something like “it’s a human game, mistakes must happen”

Not to mention the utter hate from football fans of objective rule enforcement like VAR. Add them and you have a perfect storm of people not wanting to fix a problem blended with a governing body that is conservative to a fault.

They’re trying to modify certain portions of the rules and modernize them but each league implements them differently and at the end of the day the refs are treated as unquestionable and untouchable even when they say they made mistakes despite tech and camera angles given to them. Which is fine but there needs to be more things like video assistants saying that was a dive give a yellow but they don’t do that still.

I don’t think it’s because they’re soft or something. The behaviour is advantageous and gets rewarded, so they keep doing it.

Which is why I’m always polite and ask ‘how is your favourite sports team doing?’
