Easily one of my most controversial picks to post here lol. Lamb of God is one of those new wave American death/groove/metalcore bands that felt pretty popular in the mid 00’s (coincidentally when I was growing up and found extreme metal music). Their music is VERY post-thrash and Groove-laden, but after all, what is groove metal but slowed down thrash?

This song will not be for everyone, the voice was still in the middle of being found, and the production absolutely favors the fuck out of the bass from every single instrument.

Great band. Not thrash. Not that it’s a big deal at all, I kinda think of all the lemmy metal C/s as being essentially just branches of the same tree rather than hard lines where genres dare not cross.

LoG is pretty heavily thrash influenced for damn sure.

In my opinion, all of music as a whole is one giant four-dimensional tree, filled with lots of branches and roots of cones, all cross sectioned Venn diagrams lol though I may be called a crackhead for that take.

I’m totally with you. There’s connections and similarities between all of it, and not just in a music theory way. There’s intertwined roots between bluegrass and black metal. Might have to do some twisting and turning to get them linked, but it’s there.

There’s been historiography about music that’s made those connections, between something as far off as Chinese folk music and modern US country music.

It’s all about how humans have moved across the planet.

But even just the US originated genres like blues, bluegrass, rock and country have tangled roots with European folk music and orchestral. It’s a trip!

If you try hard enough, you can manage to create a Venn diagram with Nickelback on the one side, and Burzum on the another

While not everything about this band is great, the drumming is an absolute pleasure to experience, especially on repeat listens. Chris Adler is phenomenal.

Loved the shit outta Lamb of God as a teenager, though I gotta admit this particular song is not one of my favorites despite the 10/10 lyrics lmao

I’ll be honest here and say I posted this one not knowing the lyrics. Holy fuck they’re insane, like they made one of those misheard lyrics videos about themselves lmao.

A musician friend of mine once substituted a singer of an underground metalcore band because the singer got sick. He didn’t know any of the lyrics but was just throwing in whatever random catchphrases and honestly this song looks like it was born like that haha

That was one fucking amazing show btw
