This makes me really miss my rowing days in high school and college! Excellent attention to detail, I love it!

Thank you! We see these rowboats all the time where I live. It looks like a wonderful way to spend a misty morning.

It’s not often a small image post is caused to stop and stare and admire and zoom in and zoom back out and admire some more. Great stuff!

I’m curious, do you know much about the physics of how waves and wakes and disturbances in the water look? (You got me wondering about how the oar splashes would look based on time since water contact)

Anyway, nice work. Thanks for sharing :)

What a lovely thing to read, thank you! There’s no clever physics here, just copying the photo I took from a bridge one day. I’m just pleased with how well it came out.

Thanks! The shadows under the oars help. I wasn’t going to add them, but it’s surprising what a difference they made.

The waves are doing work, too. I thought it was a high contrast black and white photo at first

Very cool. Appreciate that it seems to be a decent resolution upload too.

Ha, I keep running into the picture size upload limit, and end up doing all sorts of circuitous workarounds to reduce the size.

Wonder if there is a Lemmy instance that allows bigger uploads? It’s not a great platform for sharing art imo due to this issue.
